We are seeking an Aviation Safety Assistant to support the Director of Aviation Safety and the Aviation Safety Program Manager in the effective management and implementation of aviation safety programs, investigations, reporting procedures, and administrative duties.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in the investigation of hazards, incidents, and accidents using tools such as ADS-B tracking, Flight Data Monitoring (FDM) programs, and ATC audio.
  • Analyze and manage safety reports (ASAP, fatigue, and events) and provide trend analyses to enhance safety initiatives.
  • Support key safety programs, including:
    • Safety Management System (SMS)
    • Aviation Safety Action Program (ASAP)
    • Flight Data Monitoring (FDM)
    • Emergency Response Plan (ERP)
  • Oversee aviation safety communications, including newsletters and media.
  • Maintain compliance with regulations (e.g., 49 CFR 1552.23) and prepare for audits.
  • Manage databases, conduct trend analyses, and present findings to leadership.
  • Coordinate records, reports, and schedules to ensure compliance with internal policies and FAA requirements.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Aeronautical Science, Aviation Safety, or a related field.
  • Private Pilot Certificate required.
  • Commercial Pilot Certificate preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Strong understanding of current 14 CFR Part 61, 91, 141, and 142 regulations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Publisher.
  • Knowledge of 14 CFR Part 5 Safety Management Systems (SMS) and FAA voluntary safety programs.
  • Ability to identify adverse trends and safety-related hazards.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to engage with employees and students about safety-related events.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
