Mission: The Career Development Center prepares and empowers students to identify and pursue their goals.
Career Counseling team in the Career Development Center leads the Pack by working directly with students in person and virtually through one-on-one settings, in-class workshops/presentations, career fairs, and high-impact programming. Major areas of responsibility for the graduate intern/career counselor include career counseling, assisting with career development presentations for classes and student groups, drop-in counseling hours, maintaining records in ePACK, and assisting with career-related events.
The Graduate Intern/Career Counselor will be responsible for supporting all aspects of the Career Counseling team with special emphasis on conducting one-on-one counseling sessions to help students prepare to achieve their future career goals. Training is provided to graduate students by our professional staff to assist them in performing these projects and duties.
Specific Projects & Duties:
- Conduct individual career counseling sessions with students and recent alumni
- Shared responsibility for drop-in hours
- Correspond with students via email concerning career needs in a professional and timely manner
- Support students regarding using ePACK, resumes, cover letters, career fair preparation, interviewing tips, and basic internship/job search strategies
- Document student sessions and workshops in ePACK
- Assist Career Counselor(s) with in-class and/or student group presentations and workshops
- Attend Career Development Center meetings as available (i.e., Staff Meetings, Career Counseling Team Meetings, Cross-Team Group Meetings, etc.)
- Assist Career Counselor(s) in creation of career-related resources and planning and in execution of career events/programming
- Maintain confidentiality of all students/clients assisted by Career Development Center
