Wieland is hiring an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager directs and coordinates complete industrial operations of the Casting, Extrusion, Finishing, Shipping, Receiving, and Scrap departments by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors. These responsibilities include operations, safety, and coordination with maintenance, storeroom, engineering and supply chain departments. This role is located in Montpelier, OH and will be fully on-site.



Responsibilities

Operations Manager Responsibilities:

    Oversee all department operations consistent with company policies and goals.
  • Direct and build a high-performing team through effective leadership techniques and training, leading by example.
  • Establish financial control for manufacturing costs and modify production and inventory program to maintain and enhance profitable operations of departments.
  • Champion and drive the execution of the continuous improvement system to drive sustainable transformation on-site. Develop plans for efficient use of material, machines, and employees.
  • Support the initiatives championed by the operational leadership, aligning with the operational road-map. Implement and sustain these initiatives related to technology, automation, and best practices.
  • Support execution of capital projects and plans, both driven from the site's operational needs and the strategic needs of Wieland.
  • Champion a safety-first culture, lead and engage in safety improvement initiatives as identified and support safety programs to achieve world class results.
  • Recommend budgets to management, analyzes plant capital & budget requests to identify areas in which reductions can be made and projects that can exceed ROI goals.
  • Assists Human Resource Department in coordination of labor relations activities.
  • Lead Lean Management initiatives to reduce costs of operations, improve product quality, and to exceed operational metrics.
  • Participate in the negotiation process of the hourly union contract.
  • Upholds corporate objectives, supports other initiatives and needs as requested.

Operations Manager Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, metallurgy, or related field, plus a minimum of 5 years of progressive, related experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Outstanding critical thinking skills.
  • Direct manufacturing experience in developing and implementing improvements through more than one of the following: Lean, Lean Sigman, TPM, Six Sigman, OEE, etc.
  • Microsoft 365.
  • Ability to manage several tasks at one time and prioritize work.
  • Exhibits high ethical standards and professionalism.
  • Possesses a positive attitude and works well with others.
  • Above average ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours; dependability.
