Staff Nurse: Children's After Hours

Part-time, 20 hours/week Summary: Assesses and recommends care for pediatric patients at the appropriate level based on approved medical protocols and information gained from the caller and within the scope of licensure. Interacts professionally with providers and others to assure individualized care is provided. Provides general health information on a variety of topics related to pediatrics. Relays general information about the hospital and services offered. Documentation of calls completed on an established computer data base.Responsibilities: Other information: 1.Demonstrates the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care for the physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety needs of the patients served regardless of age and developmental status is required. 2.Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. 3.Strong organizational skills are required. 4.Excellent customer service skills and interpersonal communication skills are required. 5.Must have the ability to make sound judgments independently. 6.Ability to work well under pressure to prioritize and complete required tasks and responsibilities in a timely and accurate manner. 7.Experience working in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word) or similar software is required with ability to type 30 words per minute (WPM). 8.Experience working with an electronic medical record (i.e. EPIC) software or similar EMR software is preferred. Education and Experience1.Education: Bachelor of Science in Nursing [BSN] is required or must be obtained within 5 years from date of hire. 2.Current certification in Basic Life Support training from the American Heart Association is required. Additional certifications may be required based on the assigned department or unit. 3.A valid, active license to practice as a Registered Nurse (RN) in the state of Ohio is required. This must be a Multistate License (MSL). An MSL is required within 90 days of hire date for departments that provide telenursing services or care to patients outside Ohio. 4.Years of relevant experience: Minimum of three (3) years of applicable pediatric experience is required.
