Intern - HealthShare Credit Union

As a HealthShare Credit Union Intern, you will gain valuable hands-on experience in the financial services industry, working alongside experienced professionals in a collaborative, member-focused environment. You will assist in various departments, including member services, loans, operations, special projects and marketing, helping the credit union deliver excellent financial products and services to its members.Benefits include hands-on experience in the financial services industry, mentorship and guidance from industry professionals and the opportunity to network with professionals in the credit union industry.

This internship position is a time-limited, temporary position with a start date of June 2, 2025. The total number of hours that an intern can work during this timeframe is 250 hours.

Interns hired for the summer cohort will be enrolled in Campus Greensboro's Summer Fellows Program. This is an in-person, professional development training program sponsored by Cone Health.

To be considered, candidates must meet at least one of the below criteria:

  1. Local College Students: Attendees of local institutions including University of North Carolina at Greensboro, Guilford College, Greensboro College, Guilford Technical Community College, Bennett College, Elon University and School of Law, North Carolina A&T State University.
  2. Guilford County High School Graduates: Those who graduated from Guilford County high schools and are now furthering their education outside of Greensboro.
  3. First Generation College Students: Students who are the first in their families to attend any college or university.

  • Customer Service Support: Assist members with general inquiries, account management, and banking transactions under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Loan Processing: Support the loan department by helping prepare documentation, reviewing applications, and providing administrative assistance as needed.
  • Data Entry & Reporting: Maintain accurate records in member databases, assist in preparing financial reports, and support audit preparations.
  • Member Account Assistance: Assist in setting up new member accounts, processing changes to existing accounts, and ensuring compliance with credit union policies.
  • Marketing, Special Projects & Outreach: Contribute to member outreach campaigns, including promotional materials, social media content, and event planning for financial literacy initiatives.
  • Administrative Tasks: Support various departments with clerical duties, including filing, organizing, and other administrative tasks as needed.

Skills:

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Detail-oriented with a strong ability to multitask.
  • Basic understanding of financial products and services is a plus.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive financial data.
  • Positive attitude with a willingness to learn.
  • Flexible in a fast-paced environment.
EDUCATION:
Currently pursuing a degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field.
EXPERIENCE:

Previous internship or part-time experience in customer service, banking, or finance is a plus but not required.
