Application Window Open date: February 20, 2025 Next review date: Friday, Mar 7, 2025 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Final date: Thursday, Aug 20, 2026 at 11:59pm (Pacific Time) Position description IGOT (Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology) Junior Research Specialist The IGOT - Institute for Global Orthopaedics and Traumatology, Global Research Initiative offers a 10- month to 1-year opportunity for third and fourth year medical students interested in orthopaedic surgery and global health. The specialist research position is designed to build upon fundamental skills and hands-on research experience critical to implementing orthopaedic research projects globally. The position will include the design and implementation of projects with our global partners and affiliates as well as a structured curriculum reviewing the various processes in conducting research. The position is embedded into IGOT's programs and includes specific responsibilities based on project needs and objectives. IGOT is based at the Orthopaedic Trauma Institute (OTI) at the Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital, and travel is determined by the project or global partner need. Specialists appointed at the junior rank must possess a baccalaureate degree (or equivalent degree) or at least four years of research experience. Third-year or fourth-year medical student taken the USMLE Step 1 is preferred. Applicants who have a strong interest in global orthopaedics are preferred.
