Overview

Senior Accountant

The Senior Accountant is responsible for executing key accounting functions, including the monthly general ledger close process, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statement analysis. This role supports field operations, assists with audits, and contributes to special projects.

Salary Range: 65K to 70K



Responsibilities

Principal Accountabilities & Deliverables

  • Complete month-end closing tasks, including journal entries and reconciliations
  • Prepare financial statement analysis and summaries for senior management and the board of directors
  • Conduct variance and trend analysis to support budgeting and financial planning
  • Develop financial reports within FRX for management's ad hoc analysis
  • Support field operations with research and issue resolution
  • Maintain compliance with GAAP, corporate policies, and campus procedures, advise management on any noncompliance issues
  • Post non-campus adjustments to student account balances accurately and timely
  • Assist in training and development of Business Office Managers
  • Update accounting procedures, training manuals, and campus audit plans to align with regulatory and accounting standards
  • Process refund checks as applicable
  • Prepare audit schedules and coordinate with external auditors
  • Other duties as assigned.


Qualifications

Licenses / Certifications

  • CPA Certification (preferred)

Education / Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting (required)
  • Minimum three (3) years of progressive related experience (preferred)
  • Thorough understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) (required)
  • Experience with Great Plains and FRX reporting (preferred)

  • Analyze complex financial data and provide meaningful insights
  • Communicate financial information clearly to various stakeholders

Abilities

  • Proficient in financial analysis and variance reporting
  • Ability to develop and generate reports to support financial decision-making
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team and take on new tasks with a high level of difficulty

Work Environment

  • Work is performed indoors in a climate-controlled environment when on site at assigned company location. Employees must be able to safely ambulate when on company premises.
  • This position is designated as:
    • Hybrid (combination of onsite and remote); Employees must meet minimum technical standards for eligibility and participation. Work environments may include exposure to student learning environments with a variety of conditions. Employees must be able to follow all safety precautions including the use of personal-protective equipment. Employees must also be able to adhere to site-specific safety procedures.
