Responsibilities

The Quality Management Systems (QMS) Senior Manager is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining the organization's quality management system to ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements, and company objectives. The role involves overseeing quality assurance processes, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and ensuring operational excellence. This is a remote position but will require 90% travel to our plants.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and maintain the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with aerospace industry standards (e.g., AS9100, AS13100, NADCAP)
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, customer specifications, and internal quality standards.
  • Manage the organization's audit program to include maintaining auditor certifications, assess auditor effectiveness and collaborate on resource plans to ensure appropriate auditor support. Conduct internal and external audits to assess QMS effectiveness.
  • Establish, monitor, and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to quality management.
  • Lead management reviews to evaluate the performance of the QMS and recommend improvements.
  • Develop and maintain quality policies, procedures, and work instructions to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Identify non-conformities, root causes, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote a culture of continuous improvement (Kaizen, Six Sigma, Lean) across departments.
  • Ensure proper document control and record-keeping for quality-related activities.
  • Plan and oversee all business unit level (second party) and external quality audits, ensuring compliance with relevant regulations, specification and contracts.
  • Serve as the primary schedule coordinator for third-party audits, customer audits, and regulatory inspections.
  • Lead business unit level corrective and preventative action program. Implement root cause analysis methods, deploy corrective action plans and assess effectiveness of corrective actions resulting from audit findings.
  • Provide training and guidance to employees on quality standards, policies, and best practices.
  • Lead business unit level cross-functional teams in quality improvement projects, plans and strategies.
  • Foster a quality-driven culture by promoting awareness and accountability throughout the organization.

Qualifications

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in quality management, engineering, business administration, or a related field; or not less than 20 years of direct auditing experience within aerospace industry with a significant experience as a lead auditor at business unit levels or within a certification granting registrar (e.g. BSI, BV, DNV, etc)
  • Minimum of 15 years of experience in quality management, quality assurance, or a similar role.
  • Proven experience with AS/ISO standards (AS9100, AS13100) and regulatory compliance (FAA/EASA) and special process (NADCAP) oversight.
  • Experience conducting internal and external audits.
  • Meet travel requirements

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong knowledge of quality management principles, process improvement methodologies (Six Sigma, Lean).
  • Proficiency in QMS software and data analysis tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure, and meet deadlines.

Preferred Certifications:

  • ASQ Certified Manager of Quality, Certified Quality Manager (CQM), Certified Quality Auditor (CQA), or Lead Auditor Certification (AS9100 or relevant standard).
