Job Summary

The Global Industrial Hygiene Manager is responsible for providing supporting the IFF Environmental Health and Safety Organization in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of their Industrial Hygiene (IH) programs. This role involves working independently to provide technical support and professional consultation to various organizations using the resources of the Global EHS team. The position coordinates several IH specialty areas and supports the training and development of local EHS personnel. The role requires close collaboration with EHS site and business unit leadership management to define the necessary level of support.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and Maintain IH Programs: Develop, maintain, and support global industrial hygiene programs based on internal standards, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices. Combine and adjust existing IH policies and practices as part of the integration master plan. Maintain IH competency-related policies, documents, and procedures.
  • Exposure Assessment and Health Hazard Evaluation: Consult and conduct surveys and evaluations to identify health hazards in the workplace, including chemical, biological, and physical risks. Advance the corporate Industrial Hygiene Exposure Assessment Process by standardizing methodologies for risk determination and documentation, expanding data collection and analysis capabilities, and utilizing the information for resource deployment.
  • Culture Change: Drive culture change through leading by example, coaching, mentoring, and engaging people at all levels.
  • Develop and implement global training programs. Assist in developing site IH and Occupational Health Leaders. Provide training to senior and site leadership on site hazards and risk profiles. Coordinate policy and training development based on organizational priorities
  • Ergonomic Program: Develop and implement ergonomic programs to identify, assess, and mitigate ergonomic risks across all sites. Develop training and resources to enhance ergonomic awareness and practices. Collaborate with site teams to ensure ergonomic principles are integrated into workplace design and processes.
  • Risk Assessment and Management: Lead the Enzyme Risk Assessment and Management Program. Expand the industrial hygiene skill set available through the company by training internal resources and partnering with external vendors.
  • Incident Management: Support sites with incident investigation expertise and initiate action plans as appropriate. Understand incident trends related to pSIF, high-risk activities, and high potential events. Advise and coordinate improvement programs and corrective actions.
  • Audit Support: Provide global support for internal and external EHS audits and prepare manufacturing and lab locations for these audits.
  • Project Reviews: Participate in project reviews to ensure all aspects of EHS are effectively addressed within new sites or major projects at existing plant sites.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited College/University in Environmental Health & Safety, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Management, or a related discipline.
  • Minimum of 5 years of practical experience.
  • Strong written and spoken English communication skills, both formal and informal.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and in a team environment with a diverse workforce and multiple levels of leadership engagement.
  • Knowledge of computer applications for comprehensive tracking systems and Microsoft Office.
  • Certified Industrial Hygienists or equivalent
  • Demonstrated experience in qualitative and quantitative exposure assessment.
  • Ability to analyze technical and regulatory information and provide recommendations.
  • Strong leadership qualities with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Practitioner experience, ideally including building or significantly upgrading corporate Safety and Health programs.
  • Corporate Hazard Communication Program: Proven ability to own and advance the corporate hazard communication program.
  • REACH Knowledge: Knowledge and experience with REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization, and Restriction of Chemicals) is a benefit.

Additional Requirements:

  • Benchmark EHS Programs through external associations to improve BU performance.
  • Understand new technologies supporting sustainable solutions for manufacturing sites.
  • Assist and prepare sites for interaction with local authorities. Review material for discussions with local authorities.
  • Ensure that processes and practices are implemented consistently across sites and businesses to increase the speed, quality, and sustainability of EHS improvement.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate and lead through influence.
