How you'll make an impact:

We are seeking a Royalties Staff Accounting to join the Pandora and SiriusXM Royalties team. The ideal candidate will be a key accounting liaison for the royalties-focused Legal department, Engineering and Content Licensing teams in a highly visible role reviewing and evaluating new royalty deals and arrangements for appropriate financial treatment as well as business impact. We are looking for someone who has a strong analytical mindset, along with a focus on business process excellence. In addition, the candidate should have the ability to analyze complex contractual arrangements and have the confidence to work across teams, understand and communicate these complex financial concepts to management, provide business insights and drive change. The Royalties Staff Accountant will also participate in the financial statement close process as well as other general accounting roles. Successful candidates are self-starters, effective communicators with an eye for details who can adapt to change and shift priorities quickly while maintaining organization and accuracy. The role reports to the Associate Director of Royalties Accounting.

What you'll do:

  • Assist in the financial statement close process, including but not limited to preparation of month-end journal entries, reconciliations, and royalty analytics
  • Responsible for calculation and submission of all royalty payments as well as the tracking of contractual advances and recoupments, and ensure they are paid in accordance with the existing contract due dates
  • Participate in royalty contract review and analysis from a financial and business operations perspective as well as day to day contract management
  • Assist in implementation of Accounting and Royalty technical systems as well as testing and troubleshooting final system setups
  • Coordinate with the Engineering and Content Partnership teams to ensure that deal terms are in place and properly accounted for in the automated royalty systems
  • Partner with cross-functional teams to ensure that the company has the appropriate processes and procedures in place for timely payment and reporting required under executed royalty deals
  • Collaborate with the Internal Audit team to ensure accounting processes comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements
  • Prepare schedules for our external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits
  • Adapt to new tasks and responsibilities as the business grows and changes
  • Assist with quarterly controls testing for royalties accounting and other ad hoc royalties projects

What you'll need:

  • BS in Finance/Accounting or related field from an accredited college or university
  • 1-2 years of relevant finance/accounting work experience at a public company, preferably in a high tech or media company
  • Strong PC skills (expert Excel skills required)
  • Excellent analytical and organization skills with the ability to prioritize and multi-task, and work under shifting deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written, verbal, and presentation skills - can easily present complex financial issues to non-finance executives
  • A team player who can work independently and collaboratively within the group as well as across business units/functions at all levels
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Proactive individual who takes the initiative to accomplish tasks
  • Self-motivated, strong sense of urgency and attention to detail with the ability to work independently within the tight deadlines and balance workload effectively
  • Knowledge of US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) as well as internal control/SOX requirements
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to drive simplicity within a matrix environment
  • A solutions-oriented team player who enjoys a dynamic work environment.
  • Expert knowledge of MS-Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • CPA preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Alteryx is a plus but not required
  • Knowledge of Tableau is a plus but not required
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

At SiriusXM, we carefully consider a wide range of factors when determining compensation, including your background and experience. These considerations can cause your compensation to vary. We expect the base salary for this position to be in the range of $50,000 to $75,000 and will depend on your skills, qualifications, and experience. Additionally, this role might be eligible for discretionary short-term and long-term incentives. We encourage all interested candidates to apply.
