South State Bank is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented FIU/AML/Sanctions Model Validator to join our Financial Intelligence Unit. This role is critical in ensuring the integrity and effectiveness of our anti-money laundering (AML) and sanctions compliance models, particularly in the context of our recent acquisition of another bank. The successful candidate will conduct a limited scope review of the acquired bank's models and determine which models should be integrated into our production environment.
Key Responsibilities: * Model Validation: Conduct thorough validation of AML, sanctions, and fraud detection models from the acquired bank to ensure they meet South State Bank's standards and regulatory requirements. * Assumption Analysis: Evaluate the underlying assumptions of the models to determine their validity and relevance. Recommend changes if necessary to improve model accuracy and performance. * Documentation: Prepare comprehensive documentation of the validation process, including methodologies, findings, and recommendations. Ensure all documentation is clear, detailed, and compliant with regulatory standards. * Communication: Collaborate with various stakeholders, including model developers, compliance officers, and senior management, to communicate validation results and recommendations effectively. * Integration: Assist in the integration of selected models into South State Bank's production environment, ensuring a seamless transition and minimal disruption to operations. * Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest developments in AML, sanctions, and fraud detection methodologies. Propose enhancements to existing models and validation processes. Qualifications: * Education: PhD in a relevant field such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or a related discipline is preferred. * Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in fraud model validation, with a strong background in AML and sanctions compliance. * Technical Skills: Proficiency in statistical software and programming languages such as SAS, R, Python, or similar tools. Experience with machine learning and data analytics is a plus. * Analytical Skills: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to critically evaluate model assumptions and performance. * Communication Skills: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a proven ability to document complex processes and findings clearly and concisely. * Attention to Detail: High level of attention to detail and accuracy in all aspects of work. * Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of AML, sanctions, and fraud detection regulations and best practices. *Pay and Benefits* The pay range for this position is $85.00 - $95.00/hr.
