Summary:

The Director of FSQA Alaska Operations will be responsible for the development and management of Quality & Food Safety Systems and tools for manufacturing locations to drive all Quality, Food Safety and regulatory compliance and initiatives across Alaska primary processing locations. This role will develop strategic plans to drive the execution of current and future Quality & Food Safety initiatives through enhancements to current systems or design and implementation of new systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develops and implements strategic actions and initiatives for Trident's product processes within Trident's Alaska operations that ensure compliance with the current and future regulatory landscape and customer commitments.
  • Evaluates food safety incidents to identify potential trends; leverages findings to proactively improve and strengthen current processes.
  • Plans, promotes, organizes, and provides multi-facility food safety and current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), sensory and other FSQA related training activities.
  • Drive strategy, development and governance for food safety system compliance and provide insights for future system enhancement.
  • Maintain regulatory & third party (GFSI) compliance oversight in the production of safe, quality, legal, wholesome, and authentic food production.
  • Partners with R&D on new and existing projects, and review plant performance to drive improvements.
  • Provides guidance and support to direct site FSQA Managers and Senior FSQA Managers assigned to support Alaska operations.
  • Works with cross-functional team members in developing, maintaining, and updating new and existing product specifications.
  • Overseas and executes FSQA audits on new and existing Raw Materials and Finished Products suppliers.
  • Works with VP of FSQA to manage FSQA Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) related management action plan.
  • Partners with Seattle Support Center (SCC) Data Analysts to design and drive Trident SSC FSQA KPIs and continuous improvement activities.
  • Manages the development of team members. Removes roadblocks, pushes communications, encourages, and assesses performance. Embraces problem-solving as a learning experience.

This is a salaried exempt position with an annualized salary range of $130,000to $170,000.

Minimum Requirements

Minimum Qualifications & Experience:

  • A combination of education and experience equivalent to 10 years of experience in FDA regulated food safety, and a bachelor's degree required in Physical Science, Natural Science, Social Science.
  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to identify and develop strategies to improve capacity and throughput in a high-speed manufacturing environment.
  • Knowledge of food plant regulatory and GFSI requirements including cGMPs, sanitation, food safety, allergen controls and ability to implement such systems.
  • HACCP, LACF, Food Defense, Auditing, or related certifications.
  • Experience managing external vendors, contractors, consulting partners across multiple sites to execute quality and food safety initiatives.
  • Ability to travel and work in remote locations under extreme environmental conditions, up to 40%.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master's degree in relevant physical science (Chemistry, Food Science, Microbiology).
  • Technical credibility; having a wide depth and breadth of knowledge for various products and processes.
  • Proven leadership of complex product portfolio and supply chain.
  • Strong change management skills with a wide range of organizational levels, particularly with plant.
  • Influence up/down and across multiple teams and organizations to develop overall strategies and align execution plans.
  • Strong Analytical Capability.
  • Build and maintain dynamic internal and external networks to drive results.
  • Key contributor to entire technical stage gate process with clear responsibility and ownership of the execution and verification phase
  • Technical knowledge of USDC Seafood Inspection Program and USDA Federal Purchase Program Specifications (FPPS).

Work environment (includes travel/on-call):

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate; time at Alaska shore plants is required. At times the employee will be required to travel in wet, cold environments.

This position is based in Seattle with frequent travel to Alaska.

Physical demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
