Program Coordinator

Position Summary

Reporting to the Director of Homesharing, the Host Home Program Coordinator leads efforts to build the home provider population for all Homesharing Programs: traditional (shared living opportunities in Baltimore city and county ages 25 and up), Journey of Hope (program for youth ages 18-24 who are housing insecure), and 180 Homeshare (program for individuals returning to the community from incarceration). The Host Home Program Coordinator identifies, screens, and trains community members who volunteer to host individuals who are in dire need of housing, for which hosts receive a stipend, or monthly rent and ongoing support from the Host Home Program Coordinator. The Host Home Program Coordinator will collaborate with the Case Managers to identify and appropriately connect people needing housing with hosts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Prospective Host Recruitment & Screening:

* Implement activities (canvassing, email blasts, public engagements, mailers, etc.) to recruit and retain hosts regularly

* Schedule regular outreach events or attend regular outreach events to advertise the Homeshare Program

* Creates and maintain a regular weekly canvassing schedule, initial focus will be on areas with no current home providers.

* Performs pre-approval home visits to ensure that they meet minimum qualifications; secures and responsibly maintains the necessary paperwork

* Conducts background checks on all individuals currently residing in the prospective household

Host Retention and Ongoing Support:

* Delivers and updates quarterly training materials to potential hosts

* Maintains open, regular, and consistent lines of communication with hosts to ensure continued program compliance

* Communicates on an ongoing basis with partner organizations to ensure that the needs and concerns of seekers and hosts are addressed regularly and systematically

* Provides limited assistance to case manager, ensuring the hosts are supported as needed before, during, and after the Homeshare arrangement has been established

Administrative:

* Follows all department SOP's, assumes responsibility for keeping up with changes to SOP's, and stays in compliance with all grant requirements at all times

* Participates in biweekly meetings with assigned case managers

* Maintains accurate case file information on each host; collecting and reporting required information to the Director on an ongoing basis

* Attends internal team and organizational meetings and training sessions and external client meetings as scheduled/necessary

* Performs additional tasks as assigned

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

* Flexibility to work evenings and weekends as necessary to meet programmatic needs

* Ability to work with diverse populations

* Valid Driver's License, and the ability to travel throughout Baltimore City and Baltimore County

* Experience working in a collaborative setting

Preferred Qualifications:

* Bachelor's degree in social work, public policy, sociology, psychology, or related field

* 5+ years' experience in the field of social services, housing, community organizing, or other relevant experience

* Consideration may be given to a unique combination of education and experience

* Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations

* Project management and/or program development experience

* Experience recruiting, training, and supporting staff, volunteers, teams, community coalitions, and/or other groups working toward a common goal

Physical Requirements:

This position normally requires the physical demands of standing, walking, bending, lifting or performing other work requiring medium exertion, talking, and hearing on a regular basis to perform the job requirement. These physical demands are required up to 85% of the time.
