Configuration Management Analyst

Whippany Actuation Systems is a dynamic aerospace company that designs and manufactures electromechanical actuators and control electronics for commercial and military applications. We are looking for a detail-oriented Configuration Management Analyst to provide configuration and data management (CM/DM) support to the business. In this role you will be responsible for planning, managing and reporting on the documentation created to fulfill customer configuration and will ensure the consistency, integrity and accuracy of system documentation, drawings, design artifacts and related configuration information throughout the product lifecycle.



In this role, you would typically:

  • Review and process engineering changes and Supplier and Contract Data Requirements List (SDRL and CDRL) documents through Product Data Management (PDM) tool workflows
  • Track engineering change and SDRL/CDRL documents status and expedite as required
  • Submit engineering changes and SDRL/CDRL documents for customer approval, track status and provide/coordinate responses to questions/rejections
  • Maintain engineering items and bills of material in an Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tool
  • Ensure rigorous adherence to Contract Statements of Work (SOW), policies, procedures, and technical documentation. Provide strategic oversight to ensure that all documentation and configuration records meet or exceed compliance standards. Ensure content creators follow data identification, marking, review and release procedures.
  • Creating Configuration Management Plans to ensure the integrity of customer requirements.
  • Proactively identifying data errors and ensuring accuracy.
  • Supervise the organization, review and authorization of new and revised drawings and documentation. Guarantee that all program documentation complies with internal standards, formatting requirements, and contractual obligations, and that proper document control procedures are applied.
  • Creating Configuration Status Accounting reports in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Support government and prime audits, ensuring thorough preparation and adherence to audit requirements if contractually required. Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on audit findings and industry best practices.



We require:

  • Associates degree from an accredited university.
  • 5 years' experience in administrative function which includes significant attention to detail
  • Authorization to work in the US



Eligibility Requirements:

This role is restricted to U.S. persons (i.e., U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and other protected individuals under the Immigration and Naturalization Act, 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3)) due to access to export-controlled technology. Whippany Actuation Systems will require proof of status before employment.



We would really like to see:

  • Experience with relevant tools like Windchill PDM and Infor SyteLine ERP
  • A CM certification from NDIA or CMII organization preferred.
  • Solid knowledge and understanding of DoD and industry CM/DM standards.
  • Knowledge of EIA-649B or EIA-649C and MIL-STD-973 Configuration Management Principles as they apply to both Hardware and Software
  • Understanding of DoD-STD-963 "Data Item Descriptions" and DD Form 1423's including formatting requirements included therein
  • Experience reading and understanding Contract Statements of Work and Performance Work Statements
  • Bias for action. Ability to recognize problems and opportunities. Ability to drive problem resolution and follow through to completion.

  • Customer focused. Driven to meet the needs of both internal and external customers.
  • Innovative/Creative- drives to develop proprietary, product-differentiating technologies.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and technical writing skills.
  • Ability to handle and manage multiple projects simultaneously.



Physical Requirements Include:



  • Ability to operate office equipment including computers and determine accuracy of work.
  • Ability to interact and participate in meetings.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to remain in a stationary position for a significant period and maneuver around the facility as needed.
  • Manual dexterity, which allows the individual to use hands to type on a keyboard, use a mouse and write are required.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
