Responsibilities
POSITION SUMMARY: The robotic nurse coordinator will have the responsibility for planning, implementing, evaluating and managing all aspects of the robotic and minimally invasive surgical program related to clinical and administrative processes, including development and implementation of clinical and programmatic policies and procedures, operational and educational budget in tandem with administration, OR Director and physician staff. Will manage patient care processes including creating and managing surgery block time, robotic surgery scheduling, perioperative and patient and physician short term and long term follow up. Will develop tools for documentation and evaluating program growth and development in gynecology, urology and other robotic surgery services. Will develop and coordinate all robotics related educational forums for staff and physicians. Will take an active role in promoting the program to the community at large, with assistance from marketing. The robotic nurse coordinator must have and maintain expert clinical knowledge of all aspects of care and services for robotic surgery patients including wellness, screening, research, treatment, rehabilitation and community outreach. Qualifications QUALIFICATIONS: 1. Registered Nurse licensed in the state of Texas and a graduate from an accredited school of nursing. Must possess a minimum associates degree in nursing, but BSN preferred. Or Technical School/2 Years College / Associate's Degree: Surgical Technology, or program board eligible for SFA certification Bachelor's Degree in Science/related field. Must have at least 1 year of experience in clinical laparoscopic surgery. EDUCATION / LICENSURE: 1. Registered Nurse currently licensed in the State of Texas, or part of a compact state license, or has a valid temporary RN license for the State of Texas while waiting to receive the permanent license. BSN preferred. Or Currency in CSFA certification (through NBSTSA), CSA (through NSAA), or SA-C certification (through ABSA) must be maintained for employment. 2. Must possess an Associate Degree, Baccalaureate Degree or Diploma from a School of Nursing or University. If CSFA, Technical school/2 years college/Associates Degree in Surgical Technology or program board eligible for SFA certification Bachelor's Degree in Science/related field. 3. Must possess a Health Care Provider BLS Card upon hire and if RN, ACLS and PALS within 3 months of hire. 4. Must have completed Intuitive Surgical Robotic Coordinator Course. 5. Must have and maintain current certifications, according to unit specific needs. Certification must be in accordance with the curriculum of the AHA, for Healthcare Provider's Program (for any and all certifications applicable through the AHA program) - please check all that apply: BCLS/CPR nurse with over a year of experience - obtain within 6 months of hire; or if hired with a current certification must keep current at all times 1. Familiar with basic nursing performance standards as outlined in the TX Nurse Practice Act. 2. Membership in related professional organization preferred. OTHER REQUIRED: Manage routine preventative maintenance on da Vinci tm Surgical System in conjunction with Intuitive rep. Set up auxiliary equipment for da Vincitm procedures (ESU/Bipolar, Gyrus, Endo-Stabilizer, etc.) Manage In-Service, OR Nursing and CST staff on pre-, intra-, and post-operative management of the da Vincitm Surgical System. Conduct da Vincitm Training via the Interactive Training Tool. Perform Clinical troubleshooting of the da Vincitm Surgical System during robotic procedures. Set up the da Vincitm Surgical System for surgical procedures. Assist as scrub nurse or first assistant at the patient's side for surgical procedures (if applicable) Supervise the preparation and positioning of patients for robotics procedures. Maintain records of surgical procedure pathways and guidelines. Document procedure results and assist with procedure data collection an management. Target and support new surgeons interests in robotic surgery. Develop and maintain a Clinical Pathway for individual robotic surgery surgical teams.
