Overview We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Physicist Assistant to join our team. As a Physicist Assistant, you will support our physicists in conducting research, experiments, and data analysis. Your role is crucial in helping us achieve our mission of scientific excellence and innovation. SCOPE: Provides specific functions of a quality assurance program for patient care in cancer treatment which is delivered using radiation equipment and radioactive sources.. Supports and adheres to the US Oncology Compliance Program, to include the Code of Ethics and Business Standards. Responsibilities ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Assist physicists in setting up and conducting experiments, ensuring all equipment and materials are prepared and functioning correctly. - Collect, analyze, and interpret data from experiments, providing detailed reports and summaries to physicists. - Maintain and calibrate laboratory equipment, ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. - Conduct literature reviews and research to support ongoing projects and proposals. - Prepare presentations and visual aids for meetings, workshops, and conferences. - Collaborate with other team members to brainstorm and develop innovative solutions to scientific challenges. - Assist in writing grant proposals, research papers, and technical documents. - Stay updated with the latest advancements in physics and related technologies. Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: - Bachelor's degree in Physics or a related field. - Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Proficiency in data analysis software and tools. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Ability to work independently as well as part of a collaborative team. - Attention to detail and strong organizational skills. - Familiarity with laboratory safety protocols and procedures. Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in a research or laboratory setting. - Knowledge of advanced physics concepts and theories. - Experience with programming languages such as Python or MATLAB. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Must have the ability to utilize components of the treatment-planning computer including but not limited to the use of keyboards, digitizers, trackball and mouse controls. Must be able to stand for 8 hours; lift 40 pound block to shoulder level; have sufficient visual acuity to distinguish structures and isodose displays on computer monitor. Additionally, must be able to align treatment field and monitor patient during radiation therapy treatment; have adequate hearing and speaking capabilities to effectively communicate with patients and staff; have adequate mobility to assist patients on and off treatment couch and document treatment.
