A Brief Overview
The Operations Supervisor - ED/Admission position provides 24 hour 7 days a week supervisory coverage and leadership for the Patient Care Associates. Assures staff adherence to all departmental policies and procedures that have been developed to ensure effective and efficient quality service to patients and families.

What you will do

  • Oversee all aspects of the Patient Care Associates, including department scheduling to ensure adequate coverage.
  • Oversee various Outpatient Front Desk operations, including, but not limited to the Special Delivery Unit, Cardiac Prep and Recovery Unit, and Perioperative Services.
  • Adjust work schedules to correspond with fluctuations of offices hours and/or patient volumes. Covers Patient Care Associates positions as needed. Available to work 24/7 if needed.
  • Ensures staff follows proper procedures for registration copay collection, trauma recordings and answering nurse call.
  • Work with Manager to review reports and feedback from the billing offices (HB and PB). Analyze errors and provide feedback to employees. Monitor work queues and complete as necessary. Review staff registrations and perform random audits for tracking purposes to assure staff compliance.
  • Familiarity with all Downtime procedures so department and Patient Care Associates can function during system outages.
  • Monitors EPIC: patient tracking, registrations, productivity reports.
  • Assures that patients, families and visitors arriving in the ED are immediately greeted in a courteous manner. Assures that patients receive excellent customer service through their visit.
  • Performs customer service tracking weekly and reports on a quarterly basis.
  • Assists with recruitment, hiring, firing, disciplinary action and training of staff.
  • Ensures new staff successfully complete probationary period.
  • Coaches and develops direct report staff.
  • Maintain employee records for attendance and performance counseling in a timely fashion
  • Ensure high staff meeting attendance
  • Ensures 100% of the staff complete hospital mandatory education.
  • Attend Leadership meetings to review and design plans for departmental education, changes, updates and quality concerns. Communicate results to staff.

Education Qualifications

  • High School Diploma / GED Required
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred

Experience Qualifications

  • At least three (3) years experience in healthcare and /or physician billing and/or registration and/or medical office experience Required
  • Customer Service background Required
  • Previous supervisory experience Preferred

Skills and Abilities

  • Epic/ ED registration training within the first 3 months of employment.
  • Kronos Timekeeping training within 1 month of employment
