Overview

The RN is instrumental in providing patient education and preparation for imaging and/or procedures in order to obtain the necessary information required for next steps in diagnosis or treatment. Staff are responsible for collaborating with inpatient and ambulatory physicians and nurses to facilitate excellent patient care.
Qualifications

Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) within 1 year - American Heart Association (AHA); Basic Life Support (BLS) Instructor within 30 days - American Heart Association (AHA); Licensed Registered Professional Nurse (RN) - Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation (IDFPR),

Education: College Diploma: Nursing


Responsibilities

Practices nursing within the scope of Illinois Registered Professional Nurse licensure.Perform nursing tasks in the Radiology Department, IR, and nursing floors per protocols in place.Maintains up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care provided to assure the integration of information for use by the health care team. Recognizes and responds to any adverse or allergic reactions including change in patient status requiring nursing assistance. Reviews cases with the radiologist/physician when appropriate.Performs procedures in a manner that ensures an accurate and complete examination within the guidelines, policies, procedures and standards of Medical Imaging to assigned patients of all ages and is expected to be the expert in the nursing processes of the Diagnostic and Treatment Services.Completes initial assessments to evaluate patient status, analyzes finding and reports significant observations appropriately, enhances family communication and develops appropriate plan of care in accordance with unit standards and based on patient and family needs.Assumes responsibility for assuring efficient, thorough, and effective interventional case flow in the Medical Imaging Department.Manages care of patients during moderate sedation and recovery, controlling narcotics and supplies utilizing appropriate documentation and initiates appropriate interventions as needed. Educates as necessary and maintain knowledge of moderate sedation guidelines.Demonstrates competency in caring for critically ill patients functioning independently and competently in emergent situations.Coordinates RN resources to holding room, CT, IR, MRI, General Diagnostic, Sono and Nuclear Medicine as dictated by case load.Takes responsibility for patient, visitor, employee and environmental safety. Reports and corrects safety events immediately including those that are a near miss.Responsible for maintaining equipment and workplace environment including helping to maintain supply inventories and orderliness of work area. Recognizes malfunctions and service needs and reports service needs in a timely manner.Assists in instruction of students and new staff as necessary in conjunction with providing proper explanation of procedures to patients, their families, and others as needed to ensure understanding of procedure.Participates in QA/QC programs. Directs personnel in maintaining standards set out by accrediting bodies, licensure and safety guidelines. Aids in the annual review and periodic updates of department policies and protocols. Serves as a technical resource/subject matter expert for staff, management and physicians. Meets performance standards as established by department/organization benchmarking.

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range for this position is $30.62per hour - $52.67per hour. This represents a good faith minimum and maximum range for the role at the time of posting by Carle Health. The actual compensation offered a candidate will be dependent on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate's experience, qualifications, location, training, licenses, shifts worked and compensation model.
