Job Description

Job Summary

Nature of work

To independently assess, diagnose, counsel and treat clients, including University students, employees, and patients.
Interview, assess, and provide individual counseling to clients who are experiencing personal, social, educational, or vocational problems.
Evaluate treatment of clients and modify treatment based on specific individual's evaluation.
Collaborate with physicians and other specialists in the referral of clients.
Facilitate group therapy sessions for students with personal problems, educational problems, habit disorders, and other essential issues.
Research, design and develop educational materials relating to specific concerns about psychological health related problems.
Present in services to employees, student groups, community service agencies, and health care providers. May complete unit/department specific duties as outlined in department documents.

Key Responsibilities

1. Supervision & Staff Leadership:
* Supervise, mentor, and provide professional development for psychotherapists.
* Lead recruitment efforts for psychotherapists including interviewing, hiring, and training new staff members.
* Ensure staff competency by monitoring performance through observation, peer review, and documentation.
* Foster a positive team culture focused on collaboration, accountability, and continuous professional development.

2. Clinical Expertise & Best Practices:
* Maintain current knowledge of behavioral health trends, evidence-based treatment practices, and relevant healthcare policies, ensuring that care transitions and counseling services align with best practices.
* Regularly review healthcare literature to identify emerging trends and incorporate them into patient care strategies.
* Provide leadership in the development and standardization of care transition protocols and policies, ensuring they align with organizational objectives.

3. Employee Wellness & Engagement:
* Encourage a work culture focused on personal development, stress management, and resilience.
* Support efforts to engage and retain employees by ensuring an inclusive, supportive environment that fosters continuous growth.

4. Additional Duties:
* Coordinate activities for Employee Assistant Programs (EAP)
* Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by the department or organizational needs.
* Stay abreast of changes in organizational policies, healthcare regulations, and accreditation standards that affect care coordination and behavioral health services.

The Department of Community Practice at MU Capital Region Medical Center is a full-service health care system that encompasses a full-service acute care hospital, the area's most expansive clinic system, a state-of-the-art Cancer Program at the Goldschmidt Cancer Center, a hospital-based fitness facility, home health agency and the only hospital-based inpatient rehabilitation center in the community. The hospital has 100 acute care beds and 14 rehabilitation beds. Referrals come from our 140+ employed providers who staff a system of 36 clinics in an 8-county service area of 225K people.

Shift

Shift Type: Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm
Flexibility for Alternative Schedules: No

Minimum Qualifications

Licensed to practice independently in Missouri as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) or a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) required.
Three (3) years of clinical therapeutic experience in a medical setting working with a broad range of social, psychological, or behavior issues may be substituted for the licensure/certification. At least one of the three years of experience must be post-masters.

Preferred Qualifications

Minimum of three years in an outpatient setting is preferred.
Minimum of two years of leadership, or clinical quality improvement is preferred.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills, including the ability to communicate clearly and professionally, both, verbally and in writing, willingness to take initiative and work autonomously, work schedule flexibility including periodic early morning and evening meetings, and ability to work well with other in a team-oriented environment.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Hiring Range: $68,266 - $84,000
Grade: PAT-010
