Pay: $25.50 Hr. JOB SUMMARY:

The Driver, CDL (Commercial Driver's License) will travel using intercity routes to include local roads, interstates, and highways. The CDL Truck Driver is responsible for the transportation of goods utilizing a tractor-trailer combination. Due to the constant contact with internal and external customers it is essential that CDL Truck Drivers provide excellent customer service displaying an "Attitude of Gratitude" in order to support the mission of the organization.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:



  • Provide excellent Customer Service with an "Attitude of Gratitude."
  • Load/unload cargo and secure load as required by the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) and Colorado Department of Transportation.
  • Keep accurate records of the amount and type of cargo being delivered as well as other Colorado Department of Transportation logs.
  • Conduct pre/post trip safety checks and inspections of both truck and trailer, reporting defects, and mechanical problems as necessary to Transportation and Logistics Manager.
  • Plan travel routes effectively to ensure safety and timeliness.
  • Crosstrain in other departments/areas and act as back-up for other areas as required.
  • Have the ability to stand-in for long haul operations as a short-term solution, while following FMCSA rules/guidelines for Hours-of-Service compliance.
  • Flexibility to support Goodwill of Colorado transportation operations encompassing all Retail Support Centers.
  • Possess proficiency/familiarity with tire chain-up/down procedures and when it is required.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.



QUALIFICATIONS:

Education:



  • A High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • A current and valid Commercial Driver's License with valid medical certification is required.



Experience:



  • A minimum of two (2) years of CDL truck driving experience is preferred but not required. Must have an established safe driving record.



Other:



  • Have an understanding of and closely follow the Department of Transportation rules and regulations.
  • Able to read and follow maps.
  • Able to lift up to 75lbs, use a dolly and pallet jack as required.
  • Able to work a varied schedule that could include evenings, weekends, and holidays with overtime as necessary.
  • Able to communicate effectively with customers, managers, supervisors, staff, and peers.
  • A valid CDL endorsement is required.
  • The incumbent will be required and must have the ability to drive for company business*.



*Per auto vehicle insurance carrier requirements: For applicants/employees to qualify for inclusion on the Goodwill driver insurance schedule, for purpose of driving Goodwill fleet vehicles, or for purpose of receiving company mileage reimbursement they must be at least:



  • 19 years of age (not engaged in passenger transportation),
  • 25 - 70 years of age for all passenger transportation services,
  • 21 years of age for CDL.


Applicants/employee will be required to undergo a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check and background check; applicants/employees must disclose all moving traffic violations or vehicle crashes (within the last five (5) years)(Note: not all violations are a disqualification for employment and each case will be reviewed by the insurance carrier); must have valid Colorado State driver license; must also be able to operate company vehicle, and adhere to all Federal, State, and local laws governing vehicle operation.

Applicants/employees using their personal vehicle for company business (receiving company mileage reimbursement), must have valid vehicle insurance, valid driver license, and vehicle must be in roadworthy condition.
