Job Description

As an HR Specialist II in UMSL's Office of Human Resources, you will play a pivotal role in supporting new hires, managing employee communications, and fostering employee engagement. You will also ensure the smooth flow of daily office operations, office coverage, and HR business processes, including using software tools to streamline our work.

New Hire and Employee Engagement

  • Assist new hires in completing I-9s, complete on-site I-9s
  • Assist new hires with pre-boarding forms
  • Support New Employee Orientation and create new employee welcome kits
  • Support employee engagement initiatives

Employee Communication

  • Draft, vet, and disseminate email newsletters
  • Develop layouts, images, and graphics support of employee communication, recognition, and engagement
  • Advertise and promote activities on campus through email, campus calendar and website.
  • Communicate with leaders, supervisors, and employees regarding time sensitive topics

Process Improvement and Technical Skills

  • Suggest innovative ways to improve processes in the HR department
  • Use Kuali to create and maintain forms
  • Use Microsoft and Adobe products as well as Canva and Qualtrics
  • Use Ai programs to create voice-over presentations
  • Edit and design the HR website as well as update website and forms as needed

Office Support

  • Greet and welcome employees and visitors in a courteous and professional manner
  • Assist employees and visitors with general inquiries
  • Scan documents into eHRFile

Other Duties as Assigned

  • Assist the HR Partners regarding employees in their units or through special projects
  • Assist Executive Director in special projects
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Monday - Friday, 8 am - 5 pm, On campus

Minimum Qualifications

An associate's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 1 year of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary

Technical Proficiency:

  • Microsoft products: Intermediate to Proficient knowledge of Power Automate, SharePoint, Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Lists
  • Adobe products: Basic to Intermediate knowledge of Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Sign, Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere Pro
  • Kuali: Forms with workflow
  • Canvas: Presentations and graphics
  • Website: Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS and JavaScript
  • AI: Voice-over presentations
  • Quadratics: Surveys
Anticipated Hiring Range

Pay commensurate with education and experience.
Hiring Range: $19 - $21 hourly
Grade: GGS-8
