Overview

The Department of Human Resources (DHR) is seeking a Human Resources Analyst to serve in a unique role as a subject matter expert in the field of job evaluation, classification and compensation. We are looking for an analytical problem solver, who likes working with people as well as numbers and solving complex puzzles!

In this role, you will provide expert consultation on job classification across all levels of the Executive Branch. Job classification is the process of evaluating positions to ensure fair and consistent placement within the state's pay structure. It considers factors like job duties, required skills, and levels of responsibility to maintain equity across agencies.

As a Classification Analyst, you will analyze positions to determine their appropriate classification, Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) status, Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO-4) designation, managerial status, and other job-related classifications based on established evaluation methods and collective bargaining agreements. You will also lead statewide studies to create or refine job classes, develop and analyze data that informs the classification system, and consult with agencies on complex classification matters. Additionally, you will support one or more classification committees, serving as a key advisor and quality control expert. When needed, you will participate in the grievance process, defending classification decisions at all levels.

DHR is poised to enter an exciting multiyear project to modernize its classification and compensation system and in this position, you'll be able to be play a critical and exciting role in that effort.

The Department currently supports a hybrid work model and requests for some telework each week will be considered. This position is classified as a Classification Analyst by the Department of Human Resources.

Environmental Factors

Duties are normally performed in a standard office setting. Some travel will be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal work schedule may be required. Strong differences of opinion will be encountered on a regular basis.

Minimum Qualifications

Four (4) years or more of professional human resource experience INCLUDING interpreting and applying salary administration, employee relations, regulatory compliance, state and federal laws relating to employment practices and issues, or other personnel policies, criteria, and standards.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in job evaluation, quality assurance, or data analysis.
