Job Objective:
Records highly complicated oil and gas sales; performs sales variance analysis; and reconciles account receivables and general ledger balances; and prepares various regulatory reports in a timely and accurate manner; as well as any ad hoc assignments.
Essential Job Responsibilities:
- Records oil and gas sales, for the company, for highly complicated assigned fields.
- Understands gas plant/midstream statements and marketing contracts, including fees and adjustments and their proper accounting.
- Maintains master data setup and trouble shoots error messages in ERP system.
- Prepares federal and state royalty and tax reports and makes related general ledger (G/L) entries to record/clear payments.
- Reviews cash application by property and purchaser on a monthly basis.
- Prepares accounts receivable reconciliation report and resolves outstanding balances for assigned properties on a monthly basis.
- Prepares general ledger (G/L) account reconciliation report and reconciles and clears balances for assigned accounts on a monthly basis.
- Prepares gas balancing statements and pipeline reconciliation reports.
- Advise DO on changes to gas balancing owner/marketer/transporter changes.
- Prepares invoices for royalties and taxes paid for partners on a monthly basis.
- Prepares sales variance analysis and explains major sales fluctuations for assigned properties on a monthly basis.
- Performs special projects that require knowledge of oil and gas revenue accounting.
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional associations.
- May supervise other staff members as assigned.
- Work closely with all members of gas marketing, revenue, land, division order, production accounting and IT to accomplish responsibilities.

Qualifications:
- Seven (7) years minimum experience in oil and gas revenue accounting or plant accounting.
- Ability to solve problems accurately and exhibit exceptional proficiency in data management, including spreadsheet proficiency.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors, other departments, officials, and the public.
- Ability to complete multiple, diverse tasks of differing priorities.
- Outstanding administrative and organizational skills.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with specific ability to translate complex operational information into an organized and presentable manner.
- Proficiency in the use and application of the following software:
- Required:Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook).
- Preferred:Working knowledge of oil and gas accounting systems.
- SAP-PRA experience preferred.
- Alteryx and/or SQL experience preferred.
- Excellent data analysis skills and ability to work with large volumes of data regardless of the software platform.
- Excellent business analyst and facilitation skills to ensure success of interdepartmental responsibilities and challenges.
- Excellent systems implementation skills or technical oil and gas accounting skills.
- Understanding of the treatment of working interest owners from a gas contract allocation and balancing perspective and ability to relate this to the overall interdepartmental process.
Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year university or college with a degree in accounting, or equivalent experience.
