Mechanical Completion Leadperson

Reports to: Foreman

Benefit Classification: Hourly, Non-Exempt

Education Requirements: High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience: At least 2 years of WTG experience required.

Position Summary: Technically skilled in the installation and electrical procedures with regards to the WTG. This position will have in-depth knowledge of WTG, quality, processes, and installation checklist. This position will be required to understand and prepare tower for owner and manufacture walk down and final sign off.

Essential Job Functions

Understand the tasks of each trade. This will allow to fix any problems that come across in tower. Having knowledge in tooling and how to use it properly/safe. Know proper rigging points, and tool rigging being used. Manage crews throughout tower to ensure quality is being performed correctly, and time management Being able to perform quick troubleshooting and solutions. Identify hazards in the work they are performing. Making smart decisions concerning quality, safety, and production. Have knowledge on GE turbines, and the manuals.

Tower Wiring Specifics:

1. Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.

2. Follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion.

3. Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assemble, and installs electrical conduit.

4. Pulls wiring through conduit.

5. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps.

6. Installs control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels.

7. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.

8. Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, and oscilloscope.

9. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement.

10. Ensure the cleanliness of the turbine.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

• Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions and memos. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

• Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
