Responsibilities

As an R&D Software/Firmware Engineer at Keysight, you will join a high-performance R&D team located primarily in Santa Rosa, CA. Our team is part of Keysight's central research and development organization, Keysight Laboratories.

We help to create, validate, and implement next generation technology that differentiates Keysight products from the competition. Your focus will be on collaborating closely in a team environment to create software which performs the hardware control, hardware testing/validation, and signal processing tasks necessary for development of cutting-edge microwave, analog and digital electronic modules and subsystems. This includes interfacing with an FPGA or microcontroller (over PCIe, USB, or other methods), performing register-level control sequences, and controlling peripheral devices (ADCs, DACs, power controllers etc.) over various hardware control interfaces (SPI, I2C etc.).


Qualifications

Required Skills

  • BS, MS or PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Electrical Engineering or (or applicable engineering degree/experience)
  • A minimum of 6 years relevant job experience or education beyond bachelor's degree
  • Experience in programming using C/C#/C++
  • Experience writing software for control of hardware at the register level or willingness to learn.
  • Experience in scientific and mathematical programming algorithms
  • Ability to gather requirements from scientists, electrical engineers and do technical documentation
  • Good understanding of software development practices and software architecture
  • Self-motivated, quick-learner and excellent analytical skills
  • Strong teamwork and interpersonal skills
  • Must be flexible, adaptable, and eager to push technical boundaries
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Desired Skills

  • Experience with electronic test and measurement equipment and software is a plus
  • Experience in Linux and/or RTOS is a plus
  • Digital signal processing (DSP) knowledge is a plus
  • Analog, RF and/or microwave circuit knowledge is a plus

The level of role will be based on applicable experience, education and skills; Most offers will be between the minimum and the midpoint of the Salary Range listed below.

California Pay range: MIN $124,000.00 - MAX $207,000.00

Note: For other locations, pay ranges will vary by region
