The laboratory of Dr. Rolfo is seeking a senior researcher with extensive genomics experience to work with next-generation sequencing (NGS), multiple platforms. As part of our highly collaborative team, employees will have the opportunity to work on diverse projects tailored to our research needs focusing, but not limited to, solid tumors and liquid biopsies (including CTCs and extracellular vesicles) in thoracic oncology, specifically for Dr. Rolfos laboratory. As Division Director of Medical Oncology for The Ohio State Wexner Medical Center, Dr. Rolfo collaborates with other projects beyond thoracic oncology that this position will support.

Education and Experience Qualifications:

  • Masters degree in biology, biological sciences, or related field and/or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Specifically, 5-6 years experience in NGS is required, with 6-8 years desired. Requires successful completion of a background check.
  • Selected candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

Responsibilities:

  • Techniques: This position requires extensive knowledge of RNA/DNA extraction and manipulation for downstream assays including library preparation for NGS.
  • Troubleshooting: Optimize and transition assays to be run on the NGS systems (ex. Establish and transfer protocols from between NGS platforms).
  • Documentation: All team members are expected to meticulously document experiments, data, and analyses according to project and data storage guidelines.
  • Lab Maintenance: Assist with lab maintenance, including equipment, ordering, compliance, etc.
  • Participation in Research Meetings: Participate in research lab meetings both internally and externally as requested.
  • Manuscript and grant preparation: Assist with manuscript and grant proposals especially related to methodology as directed by PI
