Position Summary

Under general supervision, coordinates projects involving hazardous chemical waste and other chemical safety issues. Ensures compliance with all local, state, and federal regulatory agencies and university policies and procedures.

Conducts training programs in area of specialty.

Conditions of Employment
  • Possession of a valid New Mexico driver's license is a requirement for this job.
  • Successful candidate must submit to post-offer, pre-employment physical examination and medical history check.
  • Specific personnel training is required for employees working with hazardous materials and hazardous waste.


Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree; at least 3 years of experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified.

Completed degree(s) from an accredited institution that are above the minimum education requirement may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.



Preferred Qualifications
  • Ability to lift, push, or pull 50 pounds
  • Experience working with chemicals and hazardous waste
  • Experience with RCRA
  • Experience with NMED Hazardous Waste Bureau
  • Experience working with research laboratories
  • DOT Hazardous Materials Shipping Experience
  • CHMM
