Utz Quality Foods is seeking an Assistant Brand Manager, Portfolio Marketing to join our team. Reporting to the VP of Marketing, this position develops and executes annual brand marketing plans (consumer, trade, and advertising) in an effort to meet/exceed financial targets. The role also helps set strategy and works with Sales and Marketing to develop selling and promotional programs to drive our retail business. This role ensures feedback on customer needs and requirements is properly incorporated into brand plans.

The Assistant Brand Manager is part of a brand-building team charged with delivering growth against one of the company's major growth pillars and will partner with multiple stakeholders from within the Marketing Department and outside the Marketing Department including Field Sales, Finance, Purchasing, Demand & Production Planning, Operations, and R&D. Candidates should have exceptional project management skills, financial/analytical acumen, understanding of market factors impact on P&L with strong problem-solving ability necessary to close potential plan gaps. This person should have a passion and dedication to grow their business and team through innovative thinking, collaboration, and hard work, takes a holistic marketing approach, develop amazing products, competitive pricing strategies, new distribution channels, and compelling marketing campaigns.

*This role is a hybrid position, the candidate must be commutable to Hanover, PA.

Assistant Brand Manager:



  • Support the implementation and evolution of our brand growth pillars over time.
  • Assists manager in the creation and execution of both short-term and medium-term brand strategies.
  • Devise selling strategies that increase distribution on new and existing items
  • Support development and implementation of the annual business plan. Deliver both short and long-term sales, share, and income results.
  • Leads development, alignment, execution, and measurement of brand marketing programs, including new product development, digital media activation, consumer research, in-store merchandising, displays, and assist with e-commerce.
  • Ensures proper execution of strategies and programs and monitors their effectiveness and conducts pre and post-launch analysis to drive improvement.
  • Support development of the annual integrated marketing plans and lead execution of critical elements of those plans.
  • Analyze business results and competitive performance, develop and make recommendations to ensure volume and profit targets are met.
  • Leverage research (historical, secondary) and insights (consumer and supplier research, trends, Channel intelligence) to identify growth opportunities.
  • Lead cross-functional teams to bring initiatives to market, which amplify our brands' growth potential and multi-year growth pillars.
  • Partners with manager to influence all P&L line items for the brand, evaluating alternate marketing plans, product/portfolio strategies, pricing/trade promotion plans, and distribution/channels strategies to meet financial hurdles and deliver optimum enterprise value.
  • Manages marketing budget for the brand to ensure spending is within budget and properly allocated.
  • Analyze and report progress against digital advertising campaign goals and report on ROI.
  • Manage portfolio packaging design, routing, and approvals through pre-press.
  • Devise selling strategies that increase distribution on new and existing items.
  • Develop win-win merchandising programs that increase display revenue and margin.
  • Helps to attain business goals for merchandising and marketing activations.
  • Partners with third-party vendors (e.g., agencies) to develop and activate key tactics.
  • Monitor and analyze owned brand and competitive activities across customers, including price, promotion, new products, and merchandising and adjust strategies accordingly.


Requirements:



  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Business Administration with a focus in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or related field.
  • 2-5 years relevant experience.
  • Relevant marketing experience in CPG Food Industry.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience leading teams - knows how to take a project from idea to execution and partner with cross-functional teams to make things happen.
  • Entrepreneurial spirit, the ability to take the initiative and drive results in a fluid environment.
  • Strong analytic skills and the ability to translate analysis into actionable recommendations. Experience with Syndicated data such as Circana or Nielsen preferred.
  • Ability to deliver actionable category and competitive insights from syndicated data sources such as Nielsen or IRI and other sources.
  • Asserts own ideas and persuades or negotiates with others to gain support or acceptance, persists despite setbacks and works to gain acceptance for ideas.
  • Creates opportunity through resourcefulness and a strong bias for action.
  • Combines a disciplined and fact-based approach with consumer insight and intuition.
  • Acts with high degree of ownership and personal accountability.
  • Uses clear and concise verbal and written communication, translating detailed and complex information into concise business stories.
  • Experience implementing across a range of marketing initiatives such as consumer promotion plans, new product development, packaging design, etc.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to motivate and lead a diverse cross-functional team of professionals, including brand marketing, finance, operations, R&D, sales, and agencies.
