License Clinical Social Worker (LCSW)

Place of Performance:

  • The work to be performed under this task order will be at the 377th MDG Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) located at 1501 San Pedro Dr SE, on Kirtland AFB, Albuquerque, NM.

Hours of Performance:

  • HCW shifts will normally be scheduled for an eight (8) hour period between 0630 and 1730, Monday through Friday.

  • A flexible duty schedule is authorized with prior coordination between the HCW and their supervisor.

  • In no instance shall the HCW provide services in excess of eight (8) hours per day or forty (40) hours per week.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree: Master's degree in Social Work (MSW).

  • Education: Graduate from a School of Social Work fully accredited by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE).

  • Experience: 1 year of experience within the past 24 months.

  • Licensure: Current, full, active, and unrestricted license to practice as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker.

Core Duties:

  • Coordinate appropriate referrals to community and other Government agencies for services.

  • Independently assess the psychosocial functioning and needs of patients and their family members and formulate and implement a treatment plan, identifying the patient's problems, strengths, weaknesses, coping skills and assistance needed, in collaboration with the patient, family and interdisciplinary treatment team.

  • Independently conduct psychosocial assessments and provide psychosocial treatment to a wide variety of individuals from various socio-economic, cultural, ethnic, educational and other diverse backgrounds.

  • Use medical and mental health diagnoses, disabilities and treatment procedures. This includes acute, chronic and traumatic illnesses/injuries, common medications and their effects/side effects, and medical terminology.

  • Implement treatment modalities in working with individuals, families and groups who are experiencing a variety of psychiatric, medical and social problems to achieve treatment goals.

  • Independently provide counseling and/or psychotherapy services to individuals, groups, couples, and families. Must practice within the bounds of the license or certification.

  • Provide consultation services to other staff about the psychosocial needs of patients and the impact of psychosocial problems on health care and compliance with treatment.

  • Participate in professional peer review case conferences, research studies, or other organizations required at the MTF.

  • Provide walk-in coverage/emergency evaluation, transfer/coordination of higher level of care as needed, and timely termination of patients from treatment.

  • Maintain documentation and administrative standards as established by the Mental Health Flight to include adherence with high interest list procedures, tracking and follow-up on patient admissions and discharges from higher levels of care, and completing notes within designated timeframes (3 business days for standard encounters, 24 hours for high interest encounters, and same day for personnel reliability program members).

  • Demonstrate a working knowledge of professional standards and ethics regarding delivery of clinical social work services. Participate in military specific training (e.g., training to perform Command Directed Evaluations, Medical Evaluations Board, security clearances, Military Training Instructor clearances, pre-post deployment screening, PTSD, and combat stress).

  • Provide training to other staff in the areas of expertise.

  • Consult with legal authorities, military commanders, and school districts, as required.

  • Attend and participate in meetings during normal duty hours and professional staff conferences and other appropriate professional activities such as, but not limited to the following: Quality Improvement meeting, professional staff meetings, Commander's staff meetings, Mental Health Flight meetings, and others required by applicable regulations, MTF guidance, or as directed by the Mental Health Flight Commander or his/her designated representative.

  • Participate in and/or direct research and conducts clinical investigations in social work when applicable.
