Job Objective:
Monitors and operates facility and associated support systems and helps maintain a safe work environment for the company. This is a represented position with the USW local 4959.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

* Ensure safe, efficient, and sustainable operation of the asset.
* Ensure the integrity of the generation, transmission, and distribution systems.
* Respond to electrical disturbances in the plant to limit detrimental effects of a power outage.
* Operate equipment at the power station in a manner that adheres to industry standards.
* Start/Stop generator turbine units as directed.
* Knowledge of P&ID's and Electrical Schematics.
* Understand the LOTO system.
Inspects equipment for safety problems, leaks, or wear and tear, and makes or recommends
appropriate repairs.

* Procures necessary materials and supplies to complete daily tasks.
Read and operate HMI screens and local gauges, valves, and process equipment to
determine proper operation of the equipment and support systems.

* Maintains logs of meter readings, test results, and adjustments made.
* Completes and records all assigned daily process, safety critical and regulatory readings.
Completes all required daily and monthly reports and Operator assigned PM's: including, but
not limited to, Operator PM's, SPCC Reports, and report results to designated office before
deadline.

Implements company's "Spill Prevention, Control, and Countermeasures Plan" (SPCC), as
needed.

* Reports leaks or defective valves to Operations Lead.
* Inspects valves and flanges to detect malfunctions, such as loose connections and leaks.
* Records meter and pressure readings on all assigned equipment.
* responds to alarms and emergencies when on shift.
* Adheres to the company's values - integrity, ownership, urgency, alignment, and innovation.
* Supports company vision and mission.
Adheres to established work schedule, attendance standards and is punctual to work and
meetings.

* Ability to support and work well within a team concept.
* Willingness to take direction from Ops Lead.

Other Job Responsibilities:

* Ability to be available 24 hours per day (on call for questions, emergencies, etc.).
Maintains employee confidence and protects company assets, including intellectual
property, bykeeping information confidential.

* Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
* Participates on emergency response team for location.

Qualifications:

* Four (4) years minimum experience in power generation or process operations.

  • Ability to work a fourteen (14) day on and fourteen (14) day off 12-hour shift work schedule.

* Requires less supervision in the performance of routine duties.

  • Demonstrates increasing degrees of understanding how the various parts of the powergeneration plant work together.
  • Demonstrates an increased ability to work unsupervised, act upon an acquired knowledge ofhow the facilities function, anticipates, and corrects problems before they occur or beforeother parts of the facility are affected.
  • Demonstrates the ability to operate the facility independently, ensuring safety, environmental compliance, and accurate operational record-keeping.

    Demonstrates the ability to direct the work of and train other employees of lower rank and/orexperience.

    Demonstrates the ability and willingness to remain aware of and direct the whole scope ofsimultaneous activities at the job site on a routine basis.

    Demonstrates the ability to recognize when non-standard or non-routine conditions exist atthe facility, notify supervisory staff, and offer recommendations for solutions to the problem.

    * Basic mathematic and mechanical skills.
    * Basic computer skills.
    * Ability to work in arctic conditions.
    Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, supervisors,other departments, officials, and the public.

    * Ability to consider safety in all decisions.

  • Education Requirements:

    Graduation from a high school or GED equivalent or any equivalent combination of
    education and experience demonstrating sufficient knowledge, ability, and skill to handle theduties and responsibilities of the position.
