EH&S Specialist- Occupational Health Nurse

About the Role: We are looking for an Occupational Health Nurse to join our team. In this role, you will plan, lead, and implement Occupational Health programs and procedures for the Medical Products Division that enable the Enterprise to increase confidence in compliance with Occupational Health obligations. The candidate will be passionate about Occupational Health (OH) support, be energized by working for a world-class manufacturer and collaborating on cross-functional teams and recognize the importance of building and maintaining strong interpersonal relationships

This position will be located at one of our facilities in Flagstaff or Phoenix, Arizona, with the possibility of a hybrid remote work arrangement, depending upon the responsibilities of the role and business needs. Relocation assistance may be offered for this role.

Responsibilities:



  • Coordinate comprehensive case management to associates with work related injuries to facilitate and maximize healthcare outcomes in a cost-effective manner while developing case management plans utilizing a multidisciplinary approach including the associate, other health care providers, plant leaders, EH&S Specialists, ergonomic team members and others as appropriate
  • Effectively communicate and interface with medical providers, insurance company, state workers compensation commissions and workplace team members while maintaining individual records to ensure continuity of care and group data for trend analyses
  • Plan, conduct and evaluate occupational health surveillance programs; collaborate with environmental, health and safety teams on controls for injury prevention and health surveillance programs related to actual and potential hazards in the workplace
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations and other local, state, and federal regulations
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of functional processes in alignment with global standards, when applicable
  • Plan, develop and deliver training/education (as required) on a broad range of Occupational Health topics relevant to each Associate's role
  • Provide technical expertise to support risk assessments, including selection of appropriate control strategies
  • Evaluate relevant obligations (legal and other) through gap assessments and the auditing process and serve as Enterprise point of contact for regulatory agencies/authorities and outside service providers within scope
  • Maintain and/or enhance OH technical competencies through the Performance and Development process

Required Qualifications:



  • Current RN License, in good standing, with minimum 2 years experience in occupational health nursing or equivalent nursing field experience or program
  • Demonstrated success in identifying, assessing and controlling EH&S risk; organizational priority-setting skills, attention to detail and follow-through; understanding of risk management, including tolerable risk vs. compliance; and understanding of region (country/local) specific regulations
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Proven problem-solving skills, including incident investigation and root cause analysis, work related injury assessment and triage, with strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to prepare and submit reports; protect and maintain confidentiality of records/information
  • Ability to develop and implement practical, effective, and cost sensitive risk-reduction solutions
  • Ability to drive completion of multiple projects and priorities with competing resource needs
  • Ability to build consensus and influence with a diverse group of Associates in safe behaviors and practices; Effectively lead yourself and contribute in a team environment
  • Ability to work within a diverse/cross functional team and actively engage and partner with manufacturing and technical Associates
  • Ability to work off-shift hours, andtravel up to 10%



Desired Qualifications:



  • Board certification in occupational health and case management nursing
  • Experience in a manufacturing or laboratory environment
  • Experience with OHM electronic medical records system & in Worker's Compensation case management
