(MTSI) is seeking a Systems Engineer with a strong background in space payloads, satellite communications, ground EW systems, and/or space vehicle sub-systems to meet an immediate need inside of the Space Force (USSF) government office. Responsibilities

As a Systems Engineer with MTSI, you will work in a highly empowered team supporting the Space RCO transfer of programs to Space Systems Center (SSC). Engineering responsibilities span technology domains including space rated hardware, software, sensors, and processors in an extremely fast-paced, responsive development environment. You will be supporting both Space RCO and SSC/SZ to ensure completeness of system engineering requirements to deliver operationally suitable, effective and sustainable systems to SSC/SZ. This SETA candidate will provide in-depth background on satellite vehicle bus and/or subsystems to improve SSC/SZ program office insight into the Space RCO transfer program capabilities. You must apply advanced principles, theories, and concepts for highly classified systems, while also effectively communicating complex results with management and executive leadership.

Additionally, you will work with diverse functional teams - including finance, contracting, product support, security - particularly when it comes to the technical aspects of project budgeting, procurement, and contracting to ensure that system delivered to SSC/SZ aligns with the capabilities specified during the development and implementation phase of the program.

Your essential job functions will include but may not be limited to:

  • Supports design interpretation, and analysis of technical solutions to complex projects.
  • Provides input to the government customer concerning risks to performance, schedule, and budget due to either proposed contractor plans or contractor's execution of accepted plans.

  • Ensure the quality of the program, project, or task deliverables meet or exceed

    standards or metrics and assesses such deliverables to ensure that the final deliverables will meet the warfighting purpose for which they are intended.
  • Coordinates with multiple partners/agencies to ensure system engineering communities support delivery milestones.

  • Participate in military, government, and FFRDC meetings.
  • Develop program Transfer Plans, MOAs/MOUs to coordinate programs moving from one acquisition authority to another.
  • Negotiate technical challenges, schedules and costs that may impact the transfer of a program.
  • Support Senior Leadership meetings and prepare briefings on the status of program.
  • Communicate clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy using MS Office tools - both oral and written.

Qualifications

  • Minimum ten (10) years DoD/IC, or relevant industry work experience working in SAPF or SCIF facilities.
  • Understanding of space operational environment and corresponding mission user needs.
  • Understanding of industry practices for the acquisition of space-based or ground system hardware.
  • Experience in DoD program management including program development and transition.
  • Knowledge of space mission engineering, development, or manufacturing.
  • Experience with Integrated Master Schedules and risk management.

Desired Requirements:

  • System Engineering Technical Assistance (SETA) to Government program office.
  • Experience with integrated air, space, and cyberspace capabilities.
  • Experience in DoD program management including program development and transition.
  • Experience with Statements of Work (SOW) and Performance Work Statements (PWS).
  • Experience with rapid prototyping.
  • Experience with ACAT I/II level acquisition programs.
  • Fluency with IC and/or DoD organizational cultures.

Education Requirements:

  • An applicable engineering degree from a program accredited by the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) or possess a Professional Engineering license.
  • Relevant MA/MS/ME degree.

Clearance Requirements:

  • Active TOP SECRET clearance with Sensitive Compartmentalized Information (SCI), and Special Access Program (SAP) eligibility. Must be willing to work in SAP environment.
  • No less than two (2) years total SAP and/or SCI environment experience and 1-year total within last 5 years.
  • Candidate must maintain a TS/SCI clearance as a condition of employment and willingness to submit to a Counter-Intelligence polygraph.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required for this position.

Location/Travel Requirements:

  • Full time on site at SCIF/SAPF in El Segundo, CA, with potential for hybrid work.
  • Will require travel approximately 15-20% of time within the continental United States.
  • Potential for overseas travel as required.

The pay range for this position in California is $130,000/year to $170,000/year; however, base pay offered may vary depending on established government contract wages, job- related knowledge, skills, and experience, and other factors. MTSI also offers a full range of medical, financial, and other benefits, dependent on the position offered. Base pay information is based on market location.
