Description

The Department of Pathology and Cell Biology at Columbia University Irving Medical Center seeks a highly qualified candidate that will work in concert with a wet bench neurobiology lab and dry lab bioinformatics lab. The position will require a strong understanding of brain development as well as a strong background in data modeling with fluency in R and Python. This individual will be responsible for generating a biological dataset set with various pharmacological interventions and then processing the data through an already established pipeline, which will generate a very large, multidimensional dataset. The individual will then analyze this dataset through multiple measures in order to ascertain signal and background.

At CUIMC, we stand together because diverse experiences, perspective, and values enrich every dimension of our work. Join our team and see how your unique skills and experiences can create a real impact by changing lives.

Job Function:

  • Will help plan experiments with respect to drug dosages and replicate numbers

  • Will run dataset through synaptic analysis pipeline and assess data fidelity

  • Will perform multiple standard read-outs from multidimensional dataset

  • Will plan and perform novel analyses on dataset to establish signal and background parameters

Lab Mission/Purpose:

The Au lab is a basic developmental neurobiology lab that focuses on the short-range inhibitory cells of the neocortex: cortical interneurons. Specifically, we are interested the development and early circuit integration of cortical interneurons and how mis-integration can contribute to the etiology of neuropsychiatric disease.
