Penetration Tester

Key Role:

Find possible vulnerabilities while using penetration testing tools and techniques to ensure the security of computer systems, applications, servers, or networks. Apply specific functional, working, and general industry knowledge. Develop or contribute to solutions for a variety of problems of moderate scope and complexity. Work independently with some guidance and review or guide the activities of junior employees.

Basic Qualifications:

  • 5+ years of experience with penetration testing

  • Experience with security testing tools, including Burp Suite, SQLMap, Nmap, Nessus, Postman, Metasploit, and Command and Control (C2) frameworks

  • Experience with network, application, and external penetration testing, mobile, cloud, and mainframe

  • Experience with creating Rules of Engagement (ROE), standard operating procedure (SOP) test plans, and scripts to aid in testing efforts

  • Experience with developing and modifying tools that automate discovery or exploitation, including bash, Python, JavaScript, or PowerShell

  • Experience in working with Microsoft Office

  • Knowledge of phishing procedures

  • Ability to grasp complex technical concepts quickly and make them easily understandable in text and pictures

  • Public Trust

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Information Systems

Additional Qualifications:

  • Experience with providing Incident Response capabilities

  • Experience working with host identification and exploitation of vulnerabilities

  • Knowledge of accepted frameworks, including ISO or IEC 27001 and COBIT, and NIST, including 800-53

  • Ability to research new trends, techniques, and packaging of malicious software to stay current and ready to identify and handle zero-day exploits

  • Possession of excellent verbal communication skills

  • Possession of excellent organizational skills

  • GWAPT, GPEN, OSCP, or CEH Certification

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual's particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $60,400.00 to $137,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen's total compensation package for employees.
