Description

The Business Development Representative is responsible for providing quality services to business and jobseeker customers. This includes executing the 8 core business services including, but not limited to Hiring and Recruiting, Business Education, Screening and Assessments, Connecting and Convening, Labor Market Information and Analysis, Incentive Navigation, Workforce Resources and Referrals and Layoff Aversion.

Arapahoe/Douglas Works is a grant-funded organization that has been successfully operating for over 30 years. All positions are subject to grant funding availability.


Duties

The following duty statements are illustrative of the essential functions of the job and do not include other non-essential or marginal duties that may be required. The County reserves the right to modify or change the duties or essential functions of the job at any time.
* Partner with businesses, business associations, economic development organizations, and chambers of commerce to increase awareness of workforce development services and work-based learning opportunities.
* Coordinate hiring events, job fairs, business roundtables, and other events concerning current industry hiring needs and trends.
* Coordinate all aspects of work-based learning including organizing funding, write contracts, and perform monitoring.
* Facilitate discussions through Sector Partnerships with the business community to encourage their participation in workforce development services and business development services; this may include offering information on various employment services such as on-the-job training, work experiences, registered apprenticeship programs, and other applicable business services resources.
* Proficient in conducting labor market analysis to determine industry labor market needs and to provide and consult on data needs as requested by businesses.
* Outreach to targeted industries to assist in matching qualified candidates to potential employment opportunities.
* Demonstrate expertise with appropriate computer applications to assist in the execution of web-based outreach efforts, including but not limited to LinkedIn group management, career events, virtual job fairs, and other related activities.
* Be an industry expert familiar with obtaining information about specific industries through customer research, focus groups, surveys, professional associations, professional or industry newsletters, etc. Ability to assess and analyze the information gathered to develop marketing strategies for business services and resources.
* Knowledge and understanding of new and developing organizational strategies and actively support and participate in projects and other working committees. Provide backup support for specific tasks, projects, technology expertise, and program services.
* Maintains knowledge and understanding of Arapahoe/Douglas Works! programs including all applicable Federal, State, and agency rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
* Ensures accurate and timely tracking of activities, services, and expenses in Connecting Colorado.
Performs other duties as assigned.

* Planning and Organizing - must have proficient calendaring, time management, and prioritization skills.
* Communication - Demonstrate effective oral and written communication. Must be able to respond within a one-business day to all voicemails and e-mails received.
* Judgement/Decision Making - Must make decisions congruent with program and agency goals, laws, regulations, policies, and guidelines.
* Interpersonal Communication - Communicates with all internal and external customers with professionalism, accountability, and integrity

Requirements

Education and Experience:
* Any equivalent combination of education and relevant experience totaling five years will be considered, such as an HS diploma + five years' experience, Associate + 3 years, or Bachelor + 1 year.
Relevant experience includes working in workforce development, working with businesses and industry in human resources, staffing, consulting, or related setting.

Pre-Employment Additional Requirements:
* Must successfully pass pre-employment testing which includes an acceptable motor vehicle record (MVR) and background check.


Supplemental Information

Work Environment:
* Work is generally confined to a standard office environment.
* This position will be stationed primarily at the Arapahoe/Douglas Works! Workforce Center at Lima Plaza (6974 S. Lima Street) but may be asked to work out of all Arapahoe/Douglas Works locations including but not limited to Aurora, Littleton, and Castle Rock.

Physical Demands:
The following are some of the physical demands commonly associated with this position.

* Spends 50% of the time sitting and 50% of the time either upright or walking.
* Occasionally lifts, carries, pulls or pushes up to 20 lbs.
* Occasionally uses cart, dolly, or other equipment to carry in excess of 25 lbs.
* Occasionally climbs, stoops, kneels, balances, reaches, crawls and crouches while performing office or work duties.
* Verbal and auditory capacity enabling constant interpersonal communication through automated devices, such as telephones, radios, and similar; and in public meetings and personal interactions.
* Constant use of eye, hand and finger coordination enabling the use of automated office machinery or equipment.
* Visual capacity enabling constant use of computer or other work-related equipment.

Definitions:
Occasionally: Activity exists less than 1/3 of the time.
Frequently: Activity exists between 1/3 and 2/3 of the time.
Constantly: Activity exists more than 2/3 of the time.
