Specialist, Hazard Communication

The Specialist, Hazard Communication (HazCom) is responsible for hazard and transport classifications for documents including Safety Data Sheets, Labels, Dangerous Goods Transportation and Poison Center Notifications.

Responsibility:

• Hazard and Transport Classification of products using data obtained via industry associations, vendors, regulatory mandates and the IFF Toxicology team. Classifications are completed daily based on priority.
• Authoring of SDS and GHS labels. Initial authoring plus updates.
• Poison control notification (PCN) as required for products marketed in the EU or Korea.
• Providing customer support for inquires and specific document requests. These typically originate from the shared mailbox and are handled on a daily basis.

Requirements:

Essential:

• Bachelor's Degree in scientific field
• 3-5 years' experience in a technical position in a corporate environment

Preferred:

• Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry
• 5 years' experience in regulatory affairs
• Knowledge of SAP
• Knowledge of the WERCS
• Knowledge of Global Dangerous Goods regulations
• Knowledge of the Globally Harmonized System for Classification and Labeling of Chemicals (GHS)
• Knowledge of Material Safety Data Sheets
