About the Job

The Division of Gynecology Oncology, School of Medicine, in collaboration with the Division of Health Policy and Management, School of Public Health at the University of Minnesota seeks a Post-Doctoral Associate to join our growing team.

As a Post-Doctoral Associate, you'll work with our multi-disciplinary team of cancer survivorship researchers with expertise in epidemiology, biostatistics, health services research, and health disparities. Working under the mentorship of Drs. Rachel Vogel and Helen Parsons, this individual will support a funded research program in the area of cancer survivorship using a diverse set of data sources (e.g., surveys, focus groups, cancer registry, Medicare/Medicaid data).

Responsibilities (Must total 100%)

  • Support ongoing projects with Drs. Vogel and Parsons, focusing on treatment burden and cancer survivorship
  • Develop study protocols (10%)
  • Data collection and management (e.g., surveys, focus groups, secondary data) (10%)
  • Analyze data (25% first year, 10% second year)
  • Write manuscripts (20% first year, 10% second year)
  • Participate in grant writing (10%)
  • Independent research, under the supervision of Dr. Vogel and Dr. Parsons (25% first year, 50% second year)
  • Independently or collaboratively identifies research questions, develops research plan, implements and analyzes study results. Disseminates results as abstracts, manuscripts and presentations.
  • Pursues research grants and funding initiatives pertinent to personal and departmental research mission in order to sustain research work.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications
* PhD in epidemiology, population sciences, health policy or closely related field
* Experience with cancer research data
* Experience with statistical analysis packages including SAS and R

Preferred Qualifications
* Interest in women's cancer research and cancer survivorship
* Highly motivated, well organized with an ability to participate effectively in an integrated team approach yet highly proficient at working independently to accomplish specific assigned goals
* Excellent communication skills
* Strong record of academic achievement and publication of research results in peer-reviewed scientific journals, preferably as first author

Experience working with cancer registry (e.g., SEER) and/or administrative data (e.g.,
Medicare/Medicaid)

Pay and Benefits

Pay Range: $62,000-$75,000 ; depending on education/qualifications/experience

Time Appointment: 75%-100% Appointment
