General Purpose

Head of Business Intelligence is a critical role in helping the organization leverage data to achieve its business goals and objectives.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements the overall BI strategy.
  • Oversees the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of BI tools and systems.
  • Ensures data accuracy and integrity, and security.
  • Provides actionable insights to support business decision making.
  • Collaborates with cross-functional teams to identify and generate potential business intelligence initiatives, and with project stakeholders to design and plan initiatives, and ensures that business intelligence analysts have the tools, training, and understanding of the field to produce effective dashboards, reports, and metrics.
  • Stays updated with the latest BI trends and technologies.
  • Develops and maintains data governance policies.
  • Creates and delivers presentations for senior management.
  • Monitors and reports on key performance indicators (KPIs).
  • Ensures compliance with data privacy regulations.
  • Manages BI project timelines and adheres to approved budgets.
  • Regular and Reliable on-site attendance is an essential function of this position.


Other Duties/Responsibilities:



  • Makes resource allocation and staffing decisions.
  • May give input into developing the budget.
  • Capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


Supervisory Duties:



  • Manages and mentors a team of BI professionals.
  • Coaches team, sets performance goals, prepares and delivers performance evaluations.
  • Fosters a culture of continuous improvement within the BI team.


Employees are held accountable for all duties of this job.

Job Qualifications

Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:



  • Visionary leader with proven ability to drive the BI function to support data-driven decision making across the organization.
  • A strategic mindset and the ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
  • Strong knowledge of BI tools and systems, such as, but not limited to, Tableau, Power BI, Qlik.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience with data warehousing and ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of SQL and other database query languages.
  • Strong project management skills.
  • Experience with data governance and data privacy regulations.
  • Proven track record of leading successful BI initiatives.


Education or Formal Training:



  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field required.
  • Master's Degree preferred.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid Driver's License required.


Experience:



  • 10+ years of experience in business intelligence or data analytics.
  • 5+ years of experience in a leadership role.
  • 3+ years of banking industry experience.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year-to-year basis.


Working Conditions

Working Environment:

This job operates in a professional office environment, that has a hybrid schedule to include remote work and in office but can change at any time. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers. Travel to conferences, meetings and branch locations on a regular basis may be necessary.

Physical Activities:

These are representative of those which must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

This is largely a sedentary role. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. Good eyesight and hand/finger dexterity is required. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus. Ability to handle some mental stress when dealing with upset customers. Employee also may have to lift up to 25 pounds. Repetitive motion likely.

Starting Rate of Pay is from $80,000 to $120,000 per year, depending on experience.
