Field Evaluation Engineer
Your tasks

TUV SUD America Inc., a global leader in testing, inspection, and certification is currently seeking experienced persons to work as Field Evaluation Engineers/Electrical Inspectors on client projects related to electrical equipment and machinery. The Engineer/Inspector will use experience and expertise to perform testing and inspection at vendor locations within North America. US-based candidates are sought for these opportunities.

Field Evaluation Engineers/Electrical Inspectors will ensure compliance with accreditation requirements, company and client-specific policies, procedures, and others as required. In addition, the Engineer/Inspector will submit required deliverables that fully comply with all testing requirements by the assignment deadline. Field Evaluation Engineers/Electrical Inspectors will focus on the test and inspection of our client's field-installed equipment. These roles are responsible for completing all aspects of regulatory compliance testing and reporting on client products using ANSI/NFPA/UL standards. This is a remote-work from home position with 75% - 90% travel in the northeastern United States.

Your responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

Conduct Field Labelling Evaluations in accordance with TUV program requirements. Interpret and apply applicable test standards.

Effectively schedule and execute assigned evaluation

Establish and maintain a professional relationship with customers.

Execute all work in a professional manner

Demonstrate knowledge of US regulatory standards, and code requirements.

Liaise with other staff to ensure consistency and accuracy of methods and interpretations.

Participate in and promote process improvements.

Participate in creating and evaluating new product test requirements and test strategies.

Provide travel and expense cost estimates as requested.

Report and track defects found during testing. Record test data, technical information, and other details. Generate and revise test documents and reports (SOP's, datasheets, methods, etc.).

Review pre-evaluation documents to understand the objectives of the assignment prior to the start of service.

Your qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent technical education and directly related experience

A minimum of 2 years of directly related inspection and test experience evaluating products in accordance with ANSI/NFPA/UL standards

Experience with NEC NFPA 70 and US standards including NFPA 79, UL508A, UL61010-1, UL61800-5-1, UL2202, ANSI/RIA R15.06, UL 1740, and other North American standards. Prior work in electrical code inspections is a plus.

Ability to travel to US client sites. Frequent overnight travel is required.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills.

Strong communication skills; verbal, written, and active listening skills, solid technical writing skills. Strong interpersonal skills to interact with customers and effectively work with external and internal project teams.

Strong engineering knowledge, and understanding of testing requirements, manufacturing processes, drawings, and standards. Submit time, travel, and expense costs in a timely manner.

Ability to organize, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks while meeting or exceeding deadlines.
