This role will be hybrid with requirements to work in clinic, but will also have the opportunity to work remotely.

Position has flexibility to be .8 to 1.0 FTE (32-40 Hours per Week) and will be agreed upon at time of hire.

This position is appropriate for those who have completed their master's degree and are working toward their hours for licensure (APSW, LPC-IT and LMFT-IT). Those able and interested in treating younger children through adults are encouraged to apply. All applicants will be reviewed.

Position Summary:

The Behavioral Health Therapist -Associate is an in-Training therapist that will provide evidence-based treatment to children, adolescents and/or adults with clinical supervision for professional licensure by licensed master's or doctoral level providers. They will receive day to day guidance, administrative supervision, and as needed clinical consultation from the Behavioral Health Coordinator with additional accountability to the Behavioral Health Services Manager.

This position will provide both initial intake assessments and follow up psychotherapy care as a member of the outpatient behavioral health practitioner staff. The Behavioral health Therapist-Associate will collaborate with their patients to develop and address individualized treatment plans that include accurate diagnosis and specified treatment goals. Treatment benefits and progress toward goals will be monitored and reviewed regularly, utilizing measurement tools, and adjusting treatment focus as appropriate. This position may also coordinate care with primary care, other specialty providers, and the other systems in which their patients exist (e.g., schools, families) as needed. The BH Therapist Associate may provide crisis support to GHC-SCW members, including triage and risk assessments, completing safety planning, and determining acuity and appropriate level of care for members seeking behavioral health services.

The BH Therapist Associate will be part of one of our outpatient behavioral health clinics and provide both virtual and in office treatment per department protocols. They will complete documentation in the electronic medical record in a timely manner per department protocols, and chart in a manner that is patient-oriented and professional. The BH Therapist Associate will actively participate in case consultations with their local and broader behavioral health teams and be an active participate in Behavioral Health team and department meetings. They will meet with their clinical supervisor per department protocol and Wisconsin DSPS regulations with an open, receptive manner, and will appropriately receive and use feedback to address all relevant aspects of their treatment as deemed necessary by the clinical supervisor.

JOB SPECIFIC MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS



  1. Minimum of a master's degree from an accredited college or university in a psychotherapy-related field such as Psychology, Social Work, Guidance and Counseling, or Nursing required.
  2. Valid, State of Wisconsin license as an Advanced Practice Social Worker (APSW), LPC-IT, LMFT-IT or above is required. Applicants who demonstrate significant practice and training in mental
  3. health care delivery may be considered if the in-training licensure is obtained within 4 months of hire.
  4. Possession of a valid Wisconsin driver license with a good driving record.
  5. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a health care setting; direct experience with mental health care delivery is strongly preferred. Knowledge of and experience with short term therapy models preferred.
  6. Previous experience in an HMO or managed care setting preferred.
  7. Knowledge, ability and skills in the provision of professional, evidence-based mental health therapy services including assessment, diagnosis and treatment of individuals, couples, children and adolescents, families, and groups. Knowledge of and ability to apply current mental health theory and practices. Knowledge of group dynamics and leadership preferred.
  8. Knowledge of and ability to apply current mental health theory and practices is required.
  9. Knowledge of and ability to effectively use human relations, interpersonal and communications skills. Excellent interpersonal skills required. Excellent verbal communication skills, including active listening skills, required.
  10. Knowledge of and experience with mental health triage, crisis assessment and intervention, safety planning and de-escalation skills.
  11. Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  12. Ability to provide culturally competent services and to work effectively with persons of diverse cultural backgrounds required.
  13. Knowledge of and ability to use personal computers required. Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs, and ability to learn and use electronic medical record systems such as EPIC required.
  14. Access to and ability to use a personal computer with stable access to the internet and video conferencing capacity
  15. Ability to work effectively with clinic and administrative staff and to be a team player in a team-oriented environment required. Ability to interact productively with staff at all levels required.
  16. Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to speak and listen in person and on the phone required.
  17. Ability to listen, trouble-shoot and be flexible is required.
  18. Ability to receive and incorporate feedback from Clinical and Administrative supervisors, Behavioral Health Services Manager and other professional staff toward the provision of appropriate Clinical care of patients.
  19. Professional manner necessary to deal courteously and effectively with patients and the public required.
  20. Ability to maintain patient confidentiality required. Knowledge of medical records and appropriate documentation requirements. Knowledge of HIPAA requirements required.
  21. Ability to work some evening hours.
  22. Excellent assessment, interpersonal and communication skills required.
  23. Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with GHC-SCW staff.
  24. Ability to remain seated and attentive to patient verbalizations for extended periods of time required.
