Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking candidates for an IT Specialist/Windows position in our Wallops Island, Virginia office. The Surface Combat Systems Center (SCSC) Wallops Island, VA requires management, engineering, operation, and technical expertise for the activation, operations, maintenance and engineering of equipment, systems and computer programs in support of all NAVSEA and PEO IWS missions. The SCSC provides live and simulated integrated warfare capabilities in a net-centric, maritime environment to develop, test, evaluate and conduct fleet operations and training for the warfighter.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The IT Specialist/Windows will have adequate experience and training to effectively perform the duties listed below:

Install hardware, build software, configure, and maintain Windows servers and workstations.
• Create and administer user accounts, security groups, and group policy.
• Conduct backups and system recoveries.
• Configure and manage patching solutions and log collection.
• Provide technical support to onsite users.
• Maintain compliance with DoD Security Technical Configuration Guides (STIGs).
• Investigation trouble calls, isolate faults, identify and implement corrective actions to restore information systems operations.

Travel

• This position includes a low level of travel.

Education, Knowledge, Experience, Skills and Abilities Required

• Associate's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, or a related discipline. NOTE: Four years of directly related experience may substitute for degree. Directly related experience includes systems engineering, administration, and security applied to RDT&E and business environments, DOD and Information Technology systems, demonstrated experience with secure MS Windows server and desktop systems configurations, military system specifications, system administration, demonstrated experience with various IA-enabled appliances, systems and applications.
• Relevant operating system training: MS Windows 10, MS Server 2012/2016/2019.
• Two or more years of relevant experience. Relevant experience to include MS Windows 10, MS Server 2012 or newer, WSUS, SIEM products, virtualization software, MS SQL database, DISA STIGS, Solarwinds, Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS)/Nessus, PKI, Storage Area Networks, backup/restore solutions, and DNS.
• Ability to communicate clearly and succinctly in written and oral presentations.
• Must maintain the capacity to communicate with their supervisor and/or manager when not in the office.

Certificates, Licenses, Registrations

• Require one of the following DoD 8570.01-M IAT Level II certifications:
  • Security+CE
  • CCNA Security
  • CySA+
  • CND
  • SSCP

Qualifications

• Active DoD Secret security clearance is highly desired, however candidates who are eligible to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance will be considered. If the selected candidate does not hold an active clearance, he/she will receive a contingent offer. A start date will be established once an interim Secret clearance is granted.
• U.S citizenship required.
• Must have reliable transportation to and from various work locations.

Physical Requirements

• Sitting for long periods of time, standing, walking, crouching, and kneeling.
• Reaching, handling, using equipment, keyboards, and mobile devices.
• Lifting boxes (files and supplies) up to 20 lbs.
