Job Information

The Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work invites applicants for 1 tenure track faculty position in Dietetics and Nutrition to be hired at the Assistant Professor level. We invite investigators with current funding and/or funding potential and a track record of publications in peer-reviewed journals within the dietetics and nutrition field.

The Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is one of six departments within the Robert Stempel College of Public Health & Social Work. The mission of the Department of Dietetics and Nutrition is to prepare practitioners and applied researchers in dietetics, food, and nutrition to build a healthier society. The Department offers a bachelors (2-tracks; the Didactic Program in Dietetics is intended for students interested in becoming a Registered Dietitian Nutritionist; the nutrition science track is designed for students interested in other health professions), masters and doctoral degree in dietetics and nutrition along with a graduate certificate in pediatric nutrition. The Department also houses a graduate Dietetic Internship Program. The Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition and Dietetics (ACEND) accredits two programs within the department.

Minimum Qualifications:
1. PhD in dietetics, nutrition or closely related field from an accredited institution
2. Evidence of ability or potential to develop an independent research program and secure external funding
3. Track record of publication in peer-reviewed journals
4. Demonstrated teaching proficiency
5. Ability to communicate with an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community

Preferred Qualifications:
1. Postdoctoral experience
2. Registered Dietitian

Responsibilities:
1. Establish an independent, externally-funded research program;
2. Communicate research at conferences and in peer-reviewed publications as appropriate;
3. Teach undergraduate and graduate courses within dietetics and nutrition;
4. Train and mentor graduate students; and
5. Participate in departmental, college, and university service.
