Position: Manager - Communications
Department: Communications
Reporting Relationship: Reports to Director - Communications
Status: Full-Time (Exempt)

Position Summary
The Manager - Communications position is responsible for the promotion of Charlotte FC's sporting identity to fans, media, partners and employees. The position supports the Director of Communications in all sporting related functions to present a positive image for players, coaches and sporting executive staff.

Primary Responsibilities
* Oversee the day-to-day media relations for Charlotte FC's first team through a broad array of digital and/or print promotional and communication materials for the organization.
* Lead the fulfillment of player and coach media obligations.
* Responsible for managing relationships with the local, national and international media to gain news coverage of CLTFC.
* Key liaison with MLS Season Pass producers to support all Charlotte FC broadcasts and rightsholder interview requests.
* Travel representative for communications department for all Charlotte FC away trips, including preseason.
* Coordinate the media interview process from beginning to end for all CLTFC players.
* Preside over media access periods at the Club's training ground and on all matchdays, home or away.
* Manage department intern and coordinate matchday media operations staff.
* Create, distribute, manage, and log credentials to all media.
* Communicate relevant sports information details to all media partners, including rightsholders.
* Plan, prepare, and distribute original promotional content such as press releases and press emails, including syndication of internal assets to media (ie: sound bytes, photos, social media posts, etc.)
* Create and distribute game notes, packets and statistics to media.
* Organize and keep the media database up to date.
* Monitor and track media coverage of CLTFC.
* Other duties assigned as necessary.

Minimum Qualifications
* Bachelor's degree in communications, public relations, marketing, sports management, or related field
* At least 3-5 years of experience in sports, public relations/communications or related field
* Must be willing to travel
* Must be flexible and available to work evenings and/or weekends, nights, and holidays
* Must pass pre-employment screens

Preferred Qualifications
* Bilingual or multi-lingual skills
* Experience working in the soccer, sports, and/or entertainment industry

Essential Functions
* Strong written and verbal communication skills, especially in working with professional athletes, coaches and executives.
* Extremely proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and desktop publishing software.
* Ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of media contacts
* Punctuality, accountability, and keen attention to detail in each duty
* Discretion and trustworthiness related to sensitive club-related material
* Ability to work independently and in a group, and handle several tasks simultaneously
* Ability to react quickly and positively under tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment
* Must be able to handle confidential, privileged, and/or sensitive information with carefully and with sensitivity.
* Must possess excellent organizational skills.

Physical Requirements
* Ability to sit, walk and stand for extended periods of time throughout the day.
* Ability to focus on projects for periods of time.
* Role routinely uses standard office equipment
* Lift at least 20 pounds

Work Environment
This job operates in a professional office environment (mostly an office environment, outside in a stadium facility at times which may include inclement weather conditions). This position also may require travel at times
