Course / Program Description The course provides an introduction to quality performance improvement and patient safety in a healthcare setting. This course summarizes utilization of data in order to measure impact of QI programs, setting goals based on best practices and implementing changes that result in improved patient care. Students will be exposed to quality and process improvement tools including but not limited to Root Cause analysis (RCA), LEAN, algorithms, process maps and PDCA methodology. This course will also introduce students to analysis and change management methodologies to support and sustain the changes implemented in an organization. Job Description The Department of Health Sciences and Sciences at UCLA Extension offers a wide variety of certificate programs and courses including transfer-credit (XL), post baccalaureate credit-bearing (400-level), continuing education (CEU) credit, and non-credit-bearing general interest courses. UCLA Extension courses and certificate programs offer students the opportunity to learn from highly qualified practitioners who hold advanced degrees, are passionate about teaching and impart knowledge within their field of expertise. Applications to teach are accepted throughout the year in order to fill immediate program needs and to increase the depth of the instructor pool. An opening for an Instructor is available in the discipline of Infection Prevention, conducted virtually. This course will be offered in the live online format using the Canvas Learning Management System (LMS). Instructor Duties:
