Job Description

The Day to Day (Responsibilities):

  • Acts as an HR Business Partner with international assignee leaders and employees. Ensures Human Resources objectives lead to the achievement of business objectives.
  • Supports overtime management for international assignees.
  • Responds to international assignee emergencies and ensures the safety of employees and travelers.
  • Provide counsel and coaching to international assignee employees on employee resources.
  • Partner in on-boarding process for new international assignees and the exit process for when they return home.
  • Communicates and provides guidance to ensure integrity of all human resources policies and procedures.
  • Seeks opportunities for process improvements/optimization and the design of new processes, including automation and/or transfer of relevant tasks to workday
  • Provide coaching and communication strategies to influence employee engagement, including providing leadership on engagement survey and engagement related strategies. Lead employee experience initiatives to drive employee engagement with managers/teams.
  • Contribute as a project team member on various Human Resources continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performs additional duties and projects as assigned

Must Haves (minimum qualifications):

  • BA/BS degree in business-related field, Psychology, or Organization Development (or equivalent work experience required). Minimum of 2 years of related experience and project management experience.
  • Ability to speak and write in Japanese
  • Customer service mindset: provide frequent counsel and accurate information to employees in a timely manner, with the ability to refer more complex matters to HR colleagues or leaders for counsel and support.
  • Ability to implement change initiatives and communicate on a one-to-one basis and group setting to influence others.
  • Ability to perform and advise on planning, assignment, training, direction, and motivation of employees with diverse backgrounds.
  • Must possess strong business acumen, organizational skills, have strong communication skills and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong analytical skills, including use of data, problem solving, and technology to effectively support learning and development needs
  • Proven experience with problem-solving, decision-making, and multi-tasking to respond to common inquiries or complaints from employees in a professional and timely manner.
  • Ability to carry out human resources responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Effective communication, facilitation skills and project management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and SharePoint.
  • 15% Travel to other regional offices. Primary regional support will be in Portland

Physical Demands and Work Conditions:

The physical demands described herein are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. This job operates in an office setting. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, and filing cabinets. This is a largely sedentary role; however, some filing is required, which would require the ability to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary. This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 35 pounds. This position also requires 8 hours per day at a computer screen/keyboard.
