Coterra is hiring a Regulatory Policy Analyst in Houston, Texas

JOB SUMMARY

As a Regulatory Policy Analyst for Coterra, you will provide expert technical guidance on regulatory and compliance matters related to oil and gas operations. You will focus on ensuring company operations meet environmental and regulatory requirements, with a primary focus on water, waste, and emissions. The advisor also engages with regulatory agencies, trade associations, and other external stakeholders to advocate for the company's interests and provide internal guidance on the implementation of rules and regulations. This position reports to the Vice President of Government and External Affairs at our Corporate office in Houston, TX.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the primary point of contact with state and federal trade associations, representing the company in advocacy efforts and regulatory discussions.

  • Engage with external stakeholders, including regulatory agencies, to address permitting, compliance, and rule implementation matters.

  • Provide internal guidance and technical expertise on regulatory evaluations, potential impacts of new rules, and compliance requirements for water, waste, and emissions

  • Assist in the interpretation and implementation of new regulations and agency guidance, including the preparation of permitting applications, reporting, and compliance plans

  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure operational safeguards are in place to meet regulatory requirements and maintain compliance

  • Conduct applicability determinations and provide recommendations to mitigate potential compliance risks

  • Support the company's advocacy efforts by participating in hearings, regulatory workshops, and industry meetings, effectively communicating complex regulatory issues.

Job requirements

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Demonstrated ability to represent and advocate for the company in regulatory and trade association settings.

  • Strong technical expertise in water, waste, and emissions regulations.

  • Experience in interpreting and implementing federal and state environmental rules and regulations.

  • Proficiency in communicating complex regulatory and environmental issues to diverse audiences, including public speaking engagements.

  • Familiarity with permitting processes and compliance reporting in the oil and gas industry.

  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments and with external stakeholders.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Minimum of Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science or Engineering

  • Advanced degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, or a related discipline preferred.

YEARS OF EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in the oil and gas industry, with a focus on regulatory compliance and environmental matters.

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS

  • Travel may required within the business unit field locations.
