Requires technical knowledge in the field acquired through an apprenticeship, a 2-year degree, or professional certificate. Please contact your Human Resources office for an evaluation of education/experience in lieu of the required minimum qualifications.

This position will perform molecular research experiments and diagnostic laboratory testing according to laboratory standard operating procedures (SOP's). Testing materials include animal specimens (with a variety of animal diseases).

Extended periods of sitting conducting bench work and some light lifting.

Conduct diagnostic and surveillance testing, including handling specimens, nucleic acid extraction, performing PCR & real-time PCR, gel electrophoresis and next-generation sequencing. The testing process also includes data interpretation and reporting of test results.

Assist in maintenance of lab supplies and inventory. Maintain necessary records and laboratory reports and other related duties assigned by the Faculty Supervisor and Laboratory Supervisor.

Assist research projects including planning & conducting experiments, analyzing data and reporting results. Participate in required proficiency tests.

Train & coach new employees and visiting students/scholars.
