About the College/Unit/Department |
THE DEPARTMENT: The Department of Kinesiology has 29 full-time faculty members and offers B.S., M.S., M.S.A.T. and Ph.D. programs in the academic areas of athletic training, sport management, exercise science, and health and physical education. Department faculty members are nationally and internationally recognized for their scholarly accomplishments, teaching excellence, and service to their professional disciplines. THE COLLEGE: The Mary Frances Early College of Education (
MFECOE), one of the nation's largest colleges of education, consistently ranks in the top ten national Elementary Education and Curriculum and Instruction programs. The College offers significant possibilities for interdisciplinary research collaborations, program development, and school-community partnerships. The college's Research Office provides strong pre- and post-award grant support. The College is named for the University of Georgia's first African American graduate, a pioneering educator who played an integral role in the campaign for racial equality in Georgia and across the South. Position Summary |
This Research Professional position in the Department of Kinesiology in the Mary Francis Early College of Education will assist in the administration and dissemination of clinical research projects. This is a position in the Human Nutrition Laboratory of Dr. Jamie Cooper. The incumbent will lead research projects with the PI. Responsibilities will include study coordination, data collection and management, sample analysis, maintaining ethics and safety approvals, purchasing supplies, management of lab staff and student trainees, facilitating team meetings, and preparing research grants, meeting abstracts, manuscripts, and presentations. |
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and/or Competencies |
- Working knowledge of clinical research, preferably in the field of nutrition.
- Working knowledge of clinical assessment methods such as phlebotomy, body composition, diet assessment, and metabolism.
- Data management knowledge.
- Aptitude in student/staff supervision and management.
- Capable of working independently and being flexible with work responsibilities.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge in scientific writing and grantsmanship.
- Ability to be detail oriented with strong organizational and time management skills.
