Job Description

Summary
We're seeking a dynamic Sr. Student Support Specialist to support our student engagement initiatives at both the Multicultural Center and the Gaines Oldham Black Culture Center. This role is pivotal in fostering an environment where every student feels valued, supported, and inspired to achieve in inside and outside of the classroom.

What You Will Do:

  • Program Development and Implementation: Design and implement initiatives that directly foster academic success and personal growth for our students. Your efforts will enhance individual achievements and support the overall needs of our student body.
  • Student Support and Advising: Act as a mentor and advisor to student organizations, providing guidance that enhances their leadership skills and organizational effectiveness.
  • Collaboration and Outreach: Work closely with university staff, faculty, external community leaders, and serve on relevant committees to cultivate a supportive atmosphere on campus.
  • Support and Referral: Be a reliable resource for students in need, guiding them to appropriate wellness and support services.
  • Team Management: Lead and manage a team of student workers who assist with the daily operations of the resource centers and support a variety of programming efforts.
  • Budget Management and Administrative Oversight: Oversee the financial and administrative aspects of program operations within assigned areas. This includes budget monitoring, ensuring resources are effectively allocated, and generating reports to support strategic objectives and maximize impact.
  • Collaboration with central teams: Partner with colleagues in the Student Affairs marketing and assessment teams to develop promotional materials and analyze data. This collaboration ensures your programs are effectively communicated and their impacts quantifiably measured.
  • Student Affairs collaboration: May work with areas across the Division of Student Affairs to support student engagement efforts as needed.

Shift

Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.

Minimum Qualifications

A Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience and at least 2 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous work in a similar student affairs role is desirable.

Anticipated Hiring Range

Salary Range: $18.50 - $24.00 per hour, paid on a bi-weekly basis
