Senior Design Engineer - Advanced Engineering The Advanced Engineering manager Senior Design Engineer is responsible for leading a team of mechanical engineers, CAD designers and others in theresponsible for delivering on technical solutions for difficult and often challenging design requirements. and development of solutions to technical problems. As part of our advanced engineering team, you will manageevaluate programs, provide in a team doing in depth analysis, and design solutions before the new product development process starts. Your team will reduce technical risk, design new mechanisms, and develop math models directly leading into our new product development. You will help ensure we continue to be market leaders and deliver the best products to our end users. The advanced engineering manager should be technically inclined with strong leadership skills, and able to provide senior level oversight for core engineering design principles. You'll be DISRUPTIVE through these duties and responsibilities:
- Chief technical resource and mechanical engineering leader on mid/high complexity Power Tools Advanced Engineering projects
- Move quickly and ownlead technical efforts to define needs, identify possible solutions, and generate methodology for evaluation and verification of manufacturable mechanical designs
- Communicate effectively with teams and within management structure to facilitate workflow and resolve project barriers and issues.
- Provide clear engineering information to New Product Development Teams and Product Marketing facilitating trade off decisions
- Ability to maintain a professional atmosphere in a fast-paced environment with numerous interactions and interruptions
- Excellent communications skills with a proven ability to influencelead a diverse team of jr. level engineers and seasoned engineers to accomplish departmental goals within a complex engineering environment
- Foster a culture which is a positive, trusted, dedicated, high energy, teaching, learning, and fun community environment
- Responsible for resource management to anticipate program staffing and skillset needs and to optimally allocate work
- Drive design reviews, give honest critical assessment, and provide objective feedback
- Review intellectual property and technical publications to identify areas of interest
- Serve as a technical resource on areas of expertise and provide consultation / mentorship to othersDevelop math models
- Design and evaluate new mechanisms
- Perform a wide variety of calculations and software aided analyses in the following areas:
- Mechanical stress analysis, material and heat treatment selection, tolerance and fit analyses, lubrication, spur and helical gear design, statics and dynamics, noise and vibration and a variety of machine element design.
- Develop design solutions to meet consumer requirements.
- Perform root cause analysis and apply systematic thinking
- Participate in field research.
- Facilitate project flow involving regular contact with manufacturing and other cross-functional team members.
- Interact with suppliers to develop part/product specifications that meet performance requirements while falling within process capabilities.
- Evaluate product design relative to material selection, cost and reliability.
- Independently develop, write and analyze test requests with the Milwaukee Tool Test Laboratory.

What TOOLS you'll bring with you:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics, Masters preferred
- 5+ years' experience in product design or mechanical design
- 2+ years leading & managing mechanical engineering teams in a technical field
- Strong proficiency in 3D CAD - ProE, Solidworks, NX
- Strong experience with FEA
- Deep mechanical aptitude is required including a broad knowledge of engineering materials, mechanical properties and an understanding of the manufacturing processes associated with these materials
- Experience overseeing and evaluating the design of durable consumer products from start to finish
- Proven ability to be a leader influence and motivate teams to be creative, agile, and detail oriented
- A high degree of autonomy, leadership and proactiveness
- Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to travel up to 5-10% (travel includes Domestic and International)
